If you touched the anchor, then that anchor beer is deserved! I keep a 30 pound Danforth by my refrigerator for that reason. I enjoyed hearing some of your backstory around Marathon. Your current plans sound very exciting-I'll be eagerly awaiting the next update.

I wish I had the answer. I've been through a lot of Sh** in my life, like most of us, and you'd think that the perspective should help. A lot of my former nuke-brothers and sisters think that it's the nuke culture that is sticking with me. For so many years we had to be perfect, to have a plan for every contingency, and so on....such that there was never to be any "unknown" situation. I'm working on it with you, John.

Great video. Again. On my current trip, I've been happy to visit again harbors I've been to before. Good experiences at Gulfport, Marina Jacks in Sarasota, Gasparilla Marina in Placida, and Yacht Basin at Ft. Myers; because I knew what to expect. Not so great anchoring at Otter Key (Sarasota Bay), nor off southeast corner of York Island in San Carlos Bay, where I'd never been before. First and only successful anchor for me was off shore of Pink Shell Marina at Ft. Myers Beach. Great first approach experiences at Pink Shell Marina and Legacy Harbor in Ft. Myers itself, and, also after a nine hour day as the sun set, at Port LaBelle Marina. I'll reserve comment on Belle Hatchee Marina, where I am now on the hard until after I've left, in a couple weeks.

Getting past that apprehension, or perhaps just learning to not let it force us into inaction, is Job #1. I think keeping myself on the move for a while will be good. Anchor down and anchor up....that has to become the norm.

Wow is it hot and muggy here now! If there's no breeze, it's awful. The burger was great and the fries were even better....and (drum roll) I learned great way to re-purpose leftover fries (I couldn't eat them all) as hash-browns with eggs. Brilliant!

At 3.15 min on your vid you show yourself passing on your port side a yacht which is same as mine, a Nantucket Island 33 but could be a 38. Australian designed, those made for northern hemisphere markets were made in Taiwan, mine in Sydney. Similar age to your I believe, circa 1985 or so.

I think it was an Antigua 44, which was built on the CSY-44 hull. I'll get in touch with him to double-check. He came over to greet me in the "CSY anchorage". There was another CSY-44 nearby.
