Skipton Castle

Skipton Castle in North Yorkshire is an early C12th stone castle and one of the best preserved in England. During the English Civil War is was a Royalist stronghold and capitulated in 1645 after a three-year siege, the last Royalist fortress in northern England. Filmed 22 Feb 2014.

Skip to one of my fave towns in Nyks and visited regular from Ripon then Harrogate where I lived for a few years . Skipton is a very lovely little town with a lovely market . Very interesting Castle a good visit 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I visited Skipton Castle some 65 yrs ago, I was impressed then as I am again with this video. It is hard to understand the 5 down votes, perhaps their idea of a castle is a ` Disney Castle `.

Thankyou for this Richard, I havnt visited this lovely castle yet! It's not too far away from me in York! Would really like to go there at night with friends of GSI Paranormal team!.. especially the dungeon & main hall, can imagine it's very active!..😱bt would think it will be closed on an eve!..still a lovely castle to visit during the day.

Really a palace not a castle. It's possible it was converted into a palace and it was once a castle but it doesn't look like an actual castle.

An oral description while walking around the castle would have been more useful and enjoyable than a ‘guess where I’m going now’ walk about. A point of note: this castle must have been extensively modernised over the years with all the large windows and door openings as it would certainly not have stood any sieges in it’s present design.

Well most 12 century castles errr pretty much forts it wasn't until around the 14 or 15 century they became more comfortable
