The town of Skipton serves the Yorkshire Dales as a market town. In this second part of the history of Skipton we follow its development from the medieval period up to the opening of the 127-mile Leeds Liverpool Canal. Along the way we look at law and order; the arrival of Quakers and Methodists; the importance of the handloom weaving and quarrying businesses and how the digging of the canal transformed the town.
