God, I love how seductive Hyde is in this, it shows how tempting his madness is. Everything to the small details are great!
@MasqueradeRose3 жыл бұрын
It's brilliantly executed. Jekyll is so scared of Hyde and what he represents, especially evidenced by the bit where he watches, horrified, as Hyde vampirically kisses Lucy. Hyde is Jekyll's own sexuality and urges that he has been conditioned to fear - some fear rational, for instance toward his urges of violence, but others irrational and the result of unhealthy repression, namely his attraction toward Lucy. This is a man living in one of the most prudish, puritanical eras and settings in the history of ever. He's fallen for a prostitute and the moral repercussions of that alone terrify him, not to mention his fears of what this violent, impulsive incarnation of himself could do to hurt her. What better way to portray the personification of these intrusive thoughts and repressed urges than an unhinged, seductive incubus who slaughters all who scorned him? It hits home as a person who has experienced severe OCD. The fine line between freedom of expression and dangerous compulsion. Fantastic.
@noirwashere3 жыл бұрын
@@MasqueradeRose This comment was brilliantly executed! Another thing I thought about is how jekyll is really showing how egotistical HE is even without hyde...I just joined the fandom but I think it's ironic how he's calling the world insane. @MasqueradeRose3 жыл бұрын
@@redballoon9007 Exactly, it's meant to be ironic. Here is a man who despises what he's becoming and is in so much denial, his unwell mind's defense mechanism is to pin the blame on everyone but himself. Even going so far as to dissociate his intrusive, violent thoughts into a separate alter ego to spare himself from the reality that Hyde is simply a neglected and unacknowledged facet of Jekyll. But to his credit, perhaps society, the world, plays a part in his insanity for being so prudish and forcing him to repress the unsavory parts of himself than deal with them healthily, leading to the intrusive thoughts that manifest themselves as Hyde. Maybe the world is insane for suggesting we ignore and reject our animalistic urges instead of cope with them accordingly. In any case, _his_ world has gone insane.

@bloodstoneore46304 жыл бұрын
@@ReviiBot did you watch the original musical? I've been looking for it for a while
@tomm354 жыл бұрын
@@ReviiBot Hyde is not a separate identity fighting for control, as shown in the musical. Hyde was a mask that Jekyll would willingly don to relax and blow of some steam. The plan was that Hyde would be the party guy and Jekyll, being a respected member of society, would then clean up after him. While true that eventually transformations into Hyde did begin occurring randomly, it was a concern over revealing that "respected Jekyll" = "d-bag Hyde", thus making creating "d-bag Jekyll", nothing more. The actual problem happened when Jekyll decided to stop taking the potion that would transform him, he eventually got withdrawals and drank it again. This specific transformation was rather more aggressive, likely due to all the pent up stress, and he ended up killing a random dude that simple said "Hello". And murder was not something Jekyll could cover up. And the transformations continued to occur randomly. And Jekyll ran out of ingredients for the reverse transformation (there were two potions - turn-into-Hyde and revert-into-Jekyll). And while Jekyll did try to get more ingredients the potion failed, he came to the conclusion, that the first (and only) batch had some unknown impurity - some unknown extra ingredient. And when the final and permanent transformation into Hyde occurred, Hyde committed suicide (because that's how aristocrats would deal with their problems at the time, I guess?) I may have mixed up a few things, but that's the general idea.
I love how this is actually a valid interpretation of the book. I'm stealing this thank you.

I love how u added Lucy in this and in many of the animations. I feel like in the musical Lucy is a crucial key to understand Hyde. In simple concep, Hyde is every Sin, every bad act, including lust and adultery. In a more complex way of see him, you could ask yourself "having so many other prostitutes, why does Hyde not kill Lucy right away and take other girl and keep like that?" Lucy represents the obsession of Hyde, and not only that, is some sort of toxic love. AND I KNOW HE HAS FEELINGS FOR HER. But he is a psycho, that would not be abble to change. The point; Hyde has a deep something for Lucy, and having those feelings made him unabble to kill her right away, she gotted something that he liked, something that he liked waaay to much. And when he realizes that he just gets mad because a woman that should mean so little causes that on him. And at the same time, he was abble to kill her just because it was the only way to keep her. By never letting her go.

God, no matter what interpretation you see Jekyll & Hyde with, the story is always darker than you assume. Split personalities? Hyde was likely driven mad by Jekyll's repressed urges. and Jekyll, too, goes mad when exposed to what he's been unknowingly (or knowingly) subjecting Hyde to. Drug addiction? Jekyll is driven mad by a drug of his own creation, slowly losing himself until he needs the drug to become himself, and then starts OD'ing until he runs out and is stuck as Hyde. A combination of the two? Whew boy, Jekyll turns into Hyde because of a drug, which he needs to turn back. When a split in personality occurred is up for debate, but they needed the drug to switch control, until Hyde took over involuntarily and they had to start OD'ing until they ran out. (And yes, it is implied in the book that Jekyll/Hyde started double-dosing)

I’m shook! Omg! XD I love you for your color scheme as well as symbolism (I’m sorry, I am a symbolism freak XD)! I love Hyde, mainly for how amazingly insane you made him. Just-over the top crazy and dramatic! Loves it! And god dang it if you keep up the pace you’re going, everyone is going to know you, Michels. But who ever said that was a bad thing? Lovely work as always! ❤️❤️
