When you said, "Go for the 7 seater", I was surprised. I looked so hard for a 5-seater because those 2 seats in the back are useless, and you get less boot space when you fold them, compared to the 5-seater. I found one, eventually. The Kodiaq is the perfect car for us (two kids) and I will hang on to it for as long as it lasts. Or buy the newer Kodiaq. It's a 5-seater; if you need more, go for the MPG with sliding doors and things like that.

As an owner of the previous model, (201) I am happy with this update as there is not really too much done on it especially on the inside. Couple of things I thought they would have addressed in the new car. The coffee cup holders can't sit two standard takeaway coffee cups alongside each other. Some sort of Ambient lighting across the dash. It's nice to have it on the doors but you never get to really see them as the driver of the car. I find the car very shouty which is annoying with sleeping babies (Open door BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, get out of the car with keys in pocket BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, boot opening BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP etc), Apple Car play sat nav google maps won't display in the Digital Drivers display, only the indigenous sat nav which no one ever uses. That aside it's a pretty good car. Got it for £30,000 with 18,000km on the clock from the UK just before the Brexit cut off a year ago.

Totally agree Mark the new clean diesel is simply awesome and as you say with the new double dose adblue system brings NOx on par with the petrols not forgetting Diesel produces far less CO2. It’s a shame the diesel gate has stolen the stunning advances of these latest diesel power plants. It’s worth bearing in mind EVs still need heavy metals mining from the earth which has its own environmental impact. I’m looking to buy the Seat Tarraco 200bhp Diesel seven seater sibling to the Kodiaq.

Happy new year squire. Watched your review of this last night. 56k and the built in satnav isn't even enabled despite android auto/apple carplay being available is madness tho'. I get too what you're saying about the Enyaq being a similar price but I think given the charging infrastructure not being the greatest and the fact that despite the fact that the diesel costs more to run the fact that it'll do well over twice the distance on its chosen method of propulsion means it'd win hands down for me tho' I wouldn't pay that figure for either.

Happy New Year Mark. Skoda make great cars but price is getting silly in Ireland. How much of that 56k was VRT. Its crazy money. 2 years down line what will it be worth. New buyers losing a lot of their investment. You should do a video on leasing a car. Does it make sense? Pcp videos already out there etc. Cheers.
@terrydelahunt8423 жыл бұрын
Its not an investment if theres no chance it will increase in value. People in this country are obsessed with the year on their reg plate, so they dont care about what they'll lose in 2 or 3 years time. PCP is basically a form of leasing with the option to buy at the end. And serves the obsession with having a new reg plate every 3 years very nicely.

The kodiaq started at €27k in Ireland in 2017 and I now starts at €37k. A 201 sports line ,auto model was €48k. There has been a couple of vrt increases and that’s why the price has gone up. Nobody in Ireland seems to complain about this.
@terrydelahunt8422 жыл бұрын
@@scottbonnes2682 I very much doubt vrt accounts for all of that increase. Irish people are astonishingly materialistic, there are no metrics for this that I'm aware of but if there was we'd be right near the top of the list. Manufacturers know this and can up prices accordingly because so long as the neighbours are glancing enviously at it, we'll pay anything.
@scottbonnes26822 жыл бұрын
@@terrydelahunt842 Hi Terry , it’s probably a mixture of both but the VRT bands were changed twice. We looked at a Mercedes’ GLE in 2020 and it was €85k. They are now well over €100k due to the 37% rate applied to anything over 191co2.
@terrydelahunt8422 жыл бұрын
@@scottbonnes2682 do you know what the percentage increase in vrt was there? Would it have accounted for the 15k + jump? I genuinely don't know myself but that would be some jump purely on the tax side of the price.

Happy New Year Nobby, its a lovely car , but like all Skoda,s the entry level is usually quite bland if you want anything nice you will pay as you have said , and that the sme across all the VW group, but there is a lot more out there , especially in the EV market for better money, and spending €50 grand plus on a new motor in diesel now, well you would really want to think about, as a lot of dealers are saying to people to buy a hybrid or full EV over a diesel now because of future value ie your trade in value after 4 to 5 your depending on how the Government do on the roll out of infrastructure for EV,s , and the fule prices being pushed up to steer us into EV,s but saying all the, an 800km range and lower emissions may extent the life of these cars , good review , keep her lit in 22.
