Skoda & VW cars are notorious for this. I think it's because they like to keep the underside clean and the exhaust & other cabling goes through this. But it's mighty inconvenient.

Well, power has gone up by 20 bhp from the same engine in the earlier Octavia. Ok. So I got carried away a little :-) . In the Indian context, in relation to other cars in its segment, it is among the most powerful.
