Skoda / VW worn door hinge fixed without removing the door

I repaired the worn drooping door on my Skoda Superb by replacing half of the top and bottom hinges

Kudos to author of the video. Good hint not mess with lower part of hinge when it is absolutelly not necessary. Just did the same for Audi A4 B8.5 front door lower part using the hinges from rear doors of Audi A8. These hinges were used on many VAGs and you just need to match the code. Still not sure if/what there is the difference between upper hinge and lower. Actually could not care less when the pair of used hinges cost 12 euros. Anyway: 8K0831401E - A4 B8.5 front left upper 8K0831401B - A4 B8.5 front left lower Star T45 to unscrew from doors Cheers!

Would you always replace both, upper and lower? My door hangs, but I only feel play at the top. But on the other hand, if I have all the tools out, I guess doing both makes sense.

tbh if there's no measurable play in the other hinge then I probably wouldn't replace it but it will have taken a similar amount of use

Thanks for the video. I have a vw polo vivo but mine does not have a a grub screw but under the hinge is a nut. Can I do the same on mine?

So quick and easy door removal by just undoing the grub screws and the check strap and disconnecting the wiring then ?

I got the hinge from TPS here in the uk as they are parts specialists for the VAG group but you can should be able to get them from Skoda or Volkswagen dealers no problem as its such a common issue

It impresses me how a volk need to change weird parts with the time... first car that I have to change the door hinges. Sorry but, what a garbage car. This is the first volk and the last who enter in the familly.
