After a few years, I'm glad to be sharing my first vlog!
Linnea and I will attempt to live off the grid this Winter in Wisconson! The rules are simple, we can't leave the land other than walking. We will eat and drink what we have with us and gather the rest. Welcome to the journey!

Welcome to Wisconsin :) we are in northern Wisconsin also. Keep a eye on the driven branches would not be good to have some snap off and damage some solar. And might want to pick up a ice auger as it gets colder the ice will get to thick to hammer through. I recommend a nils 8” hand auger

Thanks for that. And. yes, I am keeping a close eye on that. Just cleaned off a ton of ice on the panels.

So glad you are back to vlogging again! I like the day to day stuff. Maybe Linnae could do a cooking segment now & then with some of the different than throw meat on the grill recipes. With RVs these days and having convection microwaves and insta pots, not many cook on an open fire. I like the building things part of stuff too. Looking forward to seeing what you do. I could never live in the cold & snow! Love seeing the dogs play and have fun! HUGS~Donna

Will bears not bother your outdoor food as long as it’s frozen , or can it still attract them ? Also another question I had was , would it be a good idea to set your vehicles at right angles to each other ? It might prove some shelter from the wind, though it would affect the view

Don’t see any problem with living off-grid for months at a time, have been doing that for years in a Maine camp. Well seasoned wood and overnight logs are great. -30 to -40 on a lake , can be a bugger. Most all of my appliances run on propane, and personally cheated with water from deep artesian well, better that attempting to drink horse manure laden water from upstream. Keep an open road for just in case excursions to hospitals. Ash can be spread to keep crunch under tires. Slightly wet wood and drying by fire works wonders, to easy burning.

First I like the format but in a longer video with more explanation and or detail. I have zero problem with a half hour or longer video. Second, I've followed you for a number of years now like 5 or 6 so I know your a smart guy, that being said, in your location are you going to be able to get you and your bus out if you want to hit the eject button? Not sure where your at in Wisconsin but they get a lot snow up there AND really cold. What preps have you made to the bus to keep it from sinking into the ground cause that's gonna happen it's heavy man and it'll sink in the ground more then you think. I drive trucks that big for work so just a thought. Maybe video that aspect of that. Best of luck and wish you guys the best and have fun I'm excited to see the upcoming videos.
@theoffgridskoolie
@theoffgridskoolie Жыл бұрын
No real eject button other than adding antifreeze to the lines and locking her up. The tow car is parked/ready to leave with starting it each week as well as cleaning a path for it. In terms of sinking, we added a gravel driveway and all tires are on blocks so the weight is distributed :-) Thanks for watching!
