Ok I'm not feeling this at all sang by them it's emotions behind this song and a message clearly these folks will never feel the meaning of this. They needed another song that they can relate to this is not it

They know this is a slave song right? Obviously not! Can we not have anything without the appropriation smh

Why do you have these doubts? We know what this song is about and that we sing it consciously.

Appreciate the song . Doesn't matter who sings it as long it's done tasteful and with respect 👏.. I am Hispanic and I love that song . Kudos for the artist

@@chorskowronki Are you actually being serious? Did your people have a conscience when they kidnapped, enslaved and murdered a nation? Do your people have a conscience when you use your entitlement to get what you want in this life? Do you even think of what your people have done. No of course you don’t so sit your privileged self down. I am 100% sure you would not take on that stance had it been a Jewish sing smh

First, your choir sounds lovely. I'm just wondering, did you consult with a culture bearer before choosing to perform this piece and put it on the internet for public consumption? I definitely raised my eyebrows watching an all-white choir perform this as a black American music teacher. I try to take care to ask questions of a culture bearer whenever performing the music of cultures that aren't mine. I think it's really great that you're making the conscious choice to include repertoire that addresses the topic of oppression of black people, but the reason @jacspratt1786 is mentioning appropriation is because there is a very specific, violent, oppressive history of appropriating black and indigenous music in America. So, this must really be handled with care. Since you are interested and I think you really do care, I have a great resource for you that's particularly helpful when approaching music of people who have been previously oppressed or colonized: www.decolonizingthemusicroom.com/ I know you probably would have some trouble finding a black American culture bearer to work with them in-person in Poland, but this resource is a great starting point in case you need it.

This song should not be sung by certain people. Sorry. This is a song dedicated to Black Ancestry

If we don't have freedom to sing the music we want, definitely the world is lost. It's not because this song comes from a certain ancestry or was made for "black people" that we should stop singing. Music was made for everyone and if you agree with that, you are being one more person to separate by race, regardless of what it is. This in itself already increases racism in the world.

just like you would write, Africa is for black people and Europe is for white people. However, there are white people in Africa and black people in Europe

Tecnicamente perfeito mas falta verdade. Um coral de brancas nunca conseguirá passar verdade nessa música. Falha grave.
