What makes him better is that he actually makes music to move the crowd also. unlike alot of other dj's that make just a bunch of scratch noise over bass
@ANEMOSYMBOULIA Жыл бұрын
See it like Rock, too. His selection has flavour - the track he plays previously to the ODB part really pleases the crowd, and Skratch Bastid has obviously fun himself. B-boys wouldn´t wait too long to do their moves, I guess...

It's not serato that's the issue.The mentality is. Give timecoded decks to any new DMC DJ and to Bastid and you will spot the difference in the first break.

@JYC422, well, by beat juggling, he is creating a new musical pattern by combining or mixing the two records back and forth at a specific tempo in order to make those two tracks sound as if it was a completely different instrumental all on it's own. Its actually very difficult to do compared to just plain old scratching, which might sound cool to you, but it is nowhere near the level of complexity of beat juggling. Its like making two random songs sound like the national anthem by mixing them.

how is that a stupid comment? im trying to help the dude out and get him to think bigger. you can learn how to scratch and mix without copying someone else's 7 minute routine, it's called: buy records that YOU really like (and some battle records of course if you're gonna scratch), listen to them, and THINK. and of course just practice, practice, practice your scratches. and yes i know that everyone is influenced by someone, but imitation is not really influence, its just a carbon copy.

Skratch Bastid isn't the most technical DJ you'll see, but that kind of shit gets boring and only appeals to a small group of people (mostly other DJs)... Like any instrument, get too technical and you're likely to lose the average fan... However, Skratch Bastid knows how to rock a crowd with an exciting mix of showmanship, music and DJ skills. And he just one his third Scribble Jam title...
