Hi ScratchBastid, I have a question. With the new MK7R, is there no longer a deadspot at the pitch between 7% -8%? I own two 1210 MK7s myself since Release in 2019. It doesn't really bother me, I love my MK7 :D just looks like the problem no longer exists with yours? Or have you already reached the 8% with Serato with the pitch at 7%? I would be very happy about an answer from you ;) Greetings from Germany

I'm 41 years old and have been DJing professionally since 1995 when I was 16 years old. At clubs in Center City Philadelphia, and at a clothing store at a shopping mall just outside Philadelphia. I ended up writing a couple sets of 16 for two dudes I was DJing for in the year 2000, ended up being good at it and the rest was the rest. Point being I always loved scratching, beat juggling and sampling with one memory bank on the mixer Etc. Long story short it disgusts me how ever since Serato, tractor, sync buttons in general, and controllers in general have come out everybody and their mother has now become a DJ. Believe me, I the sample Bank being invaluable like when you and your boy are getting down. One of y'all scratching the Doobie Brothers harmonica solo, and your boy cutting the beat to it. I do a lot of scratching and matching acapellas 2 Beats that don't go to the acapella. My question... Will I, can I ever stop being such a hater on these new technologies and the way they've changed turntablism forever. Try not to break my balls it's a real question, thanks peace✌

You gotta let it go bro, im 40 and know exactly what you mean but it is what it is, real heads recognise new heads dont care. I see some new DJs and you can tell they playing a premixed set over the sampler channel and doing some scratches and ''lipsyncing'' their mixes on the decks. Im a member of a couple DJ groups and 99% of new DJs dont care as long as they make the crowd dance, thats the new standard. Truth is Hip Hop, DMC, ITF, Battle style DJing is a small minority in DJing these days. But us old heads also gotta admit if back in the 90s we had buttons on the mixer that could instantly skip the track to any point we wanted in the song we wouldnt of ever bothered backspinning. If we had a button that instantly matched tempos no way we would spend 4 bars trying to beat match over headphoones.
@truthvjmcdirtywork4 жыл бұрын
@@sc239 I hear you... Your time wasn't wasted answering me. I guess it all goes back to that same paradigm. The "dj" who matches Beats usually techno and matching the beat, dropping it on the one at the right spot and fading out in eight bars or whatever is the entire "trick"... and turntablists like us who beat juggle, scratch do DMC tricks and whatnot. Almost reminds me of techno DJs who would pretend twisting the level knobs on their highs and lows somehow filtered any of the Techno sounds coming from the records 😂😂😭. What you said about cats lip syncing there mixes pre-recorded is some absolute new level shit though. Talk about the scrapes of the bottom of the barrel.

Ye I def agree with the barrier to entry being drastically lower than it was back then but you can't fake passion for the art. You can however be a pretty shitty dj and still get booked if you know the right people. I generally agree with you when it comes to that. Its pretty fucking wack. People with no culture in 'em trying to get behind something that has history behind it just for the looks. Corny af. But its just how it is. I do think people get too carried away with the digital tech too when it comes to mixing and just doing a fuckload of effects at once. Not a fan. 21 BTW, not from Philly, but I'm about 30 mins away from there.. PEACE!

the coreless motor design is actually something technics has had since 1979 they used it in most of their sl q series turntables like the q20 and q30 it was smaller than what's in the new 1200s but nonetheless a coreless design with a flat magnet just like the mk7.

Previous comment didn’t post. Hope this one does. I use a microfiber rag to clean my equip/vinyls. Warm water and damp rag. When cleaning your vinyls, remember to go along the grooves and it was playing in forward motion. Gentle, no need to press hard on vinyl. As for needle cleaning, I have an old felt brush Stanton needle cleaner. My guess is something soft which will not damage your needles. Hope this helps🤙🏽

SB, SB, this was an absolute amazing demonstration of the MK7s so much so I looked at buying options($1000ea) uh..... Maybe since they have an event name on them and a different color tone arm it commands the price they are asking but, IMO it seems a bit overpriced for the "old tech" they are marketing. I bring up the price because as consumers we have more and more options out there and some produce near identical results with less upkeep/overhead. So outside of the obvious ability to play vinyl how do you think they stack up against the Rane series (I know it's more of a controller)? I am curious to know your thoughts on the performance and price point for each of the systems.
@lustforlow-end60223 жыл бұрын
I’ve noticed on a lot of dvs DJ videos you can hear the the Serato noise map/control tone under the music. Is this just on video or can you also hear it in person? I’ve never used dvs, still using vinyl. I’m thinking of getting Serato but if you can constantly hear that noise under all your tunes I’m not sure if I should go digital. I think it would get quite annoying!
@sgtcreasegrease2 жыл бұрын
I know this is old. But its just coming through the needle, not actually going through the speakers. You can get 6 mv carts which are plenty loud, and its not as noticeable. New mixers should be able to let you adjust the gain sensitivity of the phono stages to accommodate whatever your cart is.
