What i've learned from looking at Skrillex's project files... 1. You can never have too many layers (just remember to mix them all correctly) 2. Working on a project for "too long" isn't possible, remind yourself to take breaks and come back to it later. 3. That one sample may have sounded cool in the beginning of the project, but you might find something that fits the track better later.

Well i am 40 years old and (almost) never ever left a "review" or a "comment" but this is the time. This guy is a sound genius and yeah i am aware of the "big words". Try using a pair of headphones, there are so many sounds there and so much energy:) Plus, if you want to know a bit about his background in music just google him - the music and instruments studies in a whole other music area... a bit like Lady Gaga (no, i don't like her music) of the electronic music (btw also many many studies in music in instruments). I've been watching Skrillex since the beginning but this piece right here made me listen to it on repeat for several days (with my 8 year old son which is crazy about "Skrill") - way too underrated piece!
