Skrillex wasn't even active in the current electronic scene but from this set, I definitely know he has been keeping his ears peeled and incorporating certain styles into his own music (e.g. colour bass in TEARS). Truly a master at work. Great camera work and lighting too!

He built his modern sound upon the ground of a few genre skills. Emo, hardcore and post-hardcore. (Right?) Those genres use very similar chord tonality and combos as melodic techno, and the drums are similar to jungle or rave(sometimes, just like metal). Then he messed around with being a DJ and incorporated what I always called wubstep. The result was Skrillex's dubstep hits I suppose. Post-dubstep and riddim and dancehall and whatever else mixed in is much better imo than dubstep was. Time. Always moving forward. Whether or not you enjoyed Skrillex(at whatever phase of his music career), you cannot deny he was and is a very talented musician.
