Since I'm not sure anyone has explained it yet, in case you haven't looked it up yet that bit with the interview around 10:40 is Pete Wentz (bassist for the band Fall Out Boy) and Sonny Moore (lead vocal of the band From First To Last, before he started producing electronic music as Skrillex). Skrillex (who was 17 at the time of the interview iirc) and Pete Wentz were friends and at the time in 2005 Fall Out Boy had just started exploding in popularity, of course they'd go on to become one of the biggest pop/punk bands while Sonny became one of the most influential electronic artists. Later in that interview Sonny actually talked about how fascinated he was with electronic music, especially the more experimental stuff like OG dubstep, but at that time he was only writing lyrics and singing over other tracks just for his own amusement. You can look up "Skrillex 2005 Warped Tour" on youtube if you wanna find the whole thing

Anyways, i saw that Skrillex dropped a collab with Porter Robinson and when i heard this part I cried, it brought back so many memories and the nostalgia hat like a train. 10/10 album

Skrillex went way back to the roots of OG Dubstep with those fm basses. This album is supposed to be more minimalistic and a throwback to the good old uk underground Dubstep scene ( the real Dubstep which is very different than the brostep sound that Skrillex popularized). A quite unique sonic change for Sonny and can't wait to hear what sound he is gonna experiment with next. QFF sounds like a reply to that viral video yt " why all my homies hate Skrillex", but that's just my theory.
@decky6806 Жыл бұрын
Iv been thinking similar. I think Sonny might have seen that video. I live in the UK and this album screams old school Uk vibes, simple FM basses as you said. Ect. I think he just got sick of the 'sound design competition' that he unintentionally started lol. The album is so clean and simple. But yet clever and modern while sounding like a throw back. 10/10 from me even though I did love his 'brostep' stuff. Hes evolved time and time again. There's no stopping him lol ✌️

I've been into skrillex ever since the early brostep days, and I love that he's getting the recognition he deserves from a wider audience! He's a huge inspiration and basically created an entire generation of musicians and producers, including me! also yes the "OH MY GOOSH" sample is the same sample he used in the song that basically shot him into the limelight back in 2010, Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites :)

The traditional Indian percussion instrument is called the Tabla. You're right it is similar. But the one used in Xena is I feel some kind of a drum like instrument from the Caribbean.
@gurjotesansoa2588 Жыл бұрын
Sounds more like a Darbukkah than a Tabla tbh, going with the whole middle eastern vibe with the vocal etc.

7:45 @A-BEN As someone who recently got into mixing, what he's doing on the desk is playing multiple songs on top of each other, live EQing each song, looping, transitioning, adding effects onto the songs, and a couple of other small things like rewind playbacks. One thing I noticed was I wanted to mix Rumble and extend the intro by looping it. I did that when I mixed the song and then he did the same thing when the basement set dropped the next day (he also added a sound effect, I think Spiral). It was such an awesome feeling knowing I had the same idea as The Man himself. You can better tell what he's doing by listening to the album itself. Having mixed a bit, I can see exactly what he's doing and when, so I know he's not faking it (he is well known not to pre-record his mixes anyways) as some DJs supposedly do.
