+Spörde Spyrdenstein I noticed that myself. He got that wrong, and didn't mention removing the operating rod from the trunion, but otherwise it was a pretty good step by step breakdown for soldiers possibly encountering the rifle on the battlefield. The intent of this video appears to have been general orientation for infantry.
@bmxking65828 жыл бұрын
Yea and he also said the front sight is adjustable for windage which its not. it's adjustable for elevation.
@simonferrer8 жыл бұрын
kevin lyons The SKS front sight is adjustable for windage as well as elevation (look near the base of the front sight post at the round pin; that's the front sight drum), but requires a special clamp tool to adjust the windage. Soviet doctrine probably deliberately made the sights hard to adjust, the idea being that the soldier would zero one time at a 100 meter target, (with a warrant officer using the tool to adjust the soldier's windage), then the rifle would be sighted in with it being unlikely that the soldier could knock the sights out of alignment. Not an ideal situation for a well trained marksman, but if you're equipping a marginally trained conscript army and just want them to put bullets into torsos out to 350 meters, it's simple and sufficient.
@bmxking65828 жыл бұрын

It works just fine. The rounds with the aftermarket mag and the 20 round would not feed into the bore, they just stuck on the frame below the bore. I have a few of these in my own collection. The Chinese type 56 carbine is a bit shorter than the others, and lighter. The Yugoslavian M59/66A1 is longer and heavier, and has a integrated 22mm grenade launcher. It has a gas shutoff lever to prevent the grenade launching round from destroying the internals of the rifle when firing the grenade. One thing many people forget when cleaning the Yugoslavian M59/66, is to clean the shutoff valve. Since it is the only model that has it, many manuals omit this step, and it causes all kinds of problems once corrosion gets to work, essentially turning the weapon into a single shot rifle until the valve is replaced.

He didn't remove the intermediate bolt cocking plunger and spring it's under the rear site to remove it you use the same lever to remove the gas tube and piston but be careful it's under spring pressure the lever needs to be move all the way up to clear the front of the plunger. Carbon biulds up and the plunger gets real stiff so the weapon can malfunction. I bought a used Chinese sks for $25.00 because it was malfunctioning at the range. After paying for it i used the armorers table and tore it down completely except for the stock cleaned out all the carbon dirt and cosmoline. The sks ran great the guy i bought it from was pissed. And told me he didn't know how to remove the intermediate plunger. I let him run 20 rounds through it he said it never ran that smoothly before. I now have three sks's two Chinese and one Russian.

He acts like the gas piston is fragile as glass!! It is not. This is a extremely hardy weapon. To me the SKS represents the beauty of simplicity and hardiness. Obsolete? Yes! Still usable and upgradable after 75 years? Very much so. An SKS in the hands of a poor man who knows how to shoot is still far superior to a $3000 rifle in the hands of a wealthy man who thinks his arrogance and massive scope will compensate for his lack of skill. Under very trying conditions it will still be aimable and in usable condition when the rich man is finished as soon as he bumps his $1000 scope against a tree. I only say this as I have seen too many high end rifles in the hands of low end shooters getting aced by poorer people with an SKS, Enfield, M1, or similar old military surplus rifle.

@@Yirmyah I had to replace all the springs on a Russian SKS that had all the finish sand blasted off, and a 2 inch fragment of stock and all the springs were rusted but rest of the gun was solid. No fancy tools just screw river and pin punch and rubber mallet. Would not want to do it again but it can be done.The only part I could not find a replacement for was the little spring on the rear sight that helps lock in elevation.

@@stang3787 parts are insanely high right now, I’ve had a few over the years but recently sold an old 70s Chinese stock for around 130, 10rd mag for 110, springs and piston set up for about 150. 100+ for trigger assembly and ugly self made pistol grip, Insane compared to 20 or 30 years ago.

The only time "Clip" and gun go together correctly in the same sentence, ie "Stripper Clip". Ak Ar Handguns and sub caliber carbines take Magazines or "Mag" There is no such thing as a 30 round clip lol

Why didn’t the USA not adopt the FN in Vietnam instead of the m16 which was a disaster , kids were found dead and crucified while finding their M16 stripped on the ground next to the dead soldier to clean it to fire again . This was the battle rifle that you didn’t need to clean . The only good part about this was the development of WD 40 to clean it . The FN was far superior but the USA had to have their own no matter how many kids died developing it . Another rifle of distinction was the Krag rifle under powered but easy to load . What’s wrong with these people they wouldn’t dare use somebody else’s proven rifle . Then they said it was a waste of bullets to use full auto rifles . Then there was the lee enfield which could have been easily converted to 30 06 but no they had to have their own and spent millions just to develop the 1903 Springfield . Wake up people why don’t you choose the best for your troops The Indians at little big horn had repeating rifles but wouldn’t supply their troops with them .They had the trap door single shot rifles so that they wouldn’t waste bullets . Please tell me I’m wrong .The sin is not giving your troops the best to protect themselves . When are your people going to learn .

M16 was a disaster in the beginning kid. Remember this because I came in the Army on first enlistment in 1972. First some REMF told that the M16 was a self cleaning rifle and you don't need no cleaning kid. Big mistake and got a lot of soldiers killed. Second they switch ammo power that over pressurize the rifle and at the same time the powder did not burn cleanly. Causing the rifle misfired and gummed up. In 1969 they fix the problem and that is when the M16A1 came out. Later M16A2 to M4 carbines came out and I had NO problems with those assault rifles. I own two AR-15s and Two AK style rifles. The AR-15s I own rarely did any jam or misfire. If it did, it was bad ammo or a bad magazine. Oh and you think AKs don't jam? Think again! If you get a hold of bad ammo or magazine, the AK rifle will jam.

@@11B30Inf By 1970 we were being taught that the gun had to be cleaned and how to do it. The problem was in the mid 60's when the gun wAS NEW AND THE POWDER WAS CHANGED AND LEFT MORE CARBON THAN THE ORIGINAL LOAD.

The M16 weighs less than the FAL, G3 & M14 it uses a lighter weight cartridge .223/5.55x45 compared to 7.62x51 . They figured our troops could carry more ammo and it would cut back on fatigue becuse the equipment weighed less . The FAL & G3 cost more money to produce. The M16 was a cheaper alternative.
