Could you imagine dropping that bad boy off on a porch in the early 1900's? I dare say, it would have scared even the most stout-hearted trick or treater right back to their homes and possibly changed how Hallowe'en is viewed today/

You'd be surprised to see how some people carved their pumpkins back then. I saw some old photos of carved pumpkins that looked rather grotesque. My father's carved pumpkins would fit right in. 😆

Your work is always excellent. I am new to crafting with HD and foam clay and your videos are great tutorials in tips, tricks and ideas. One of the things I am still struggling with is the foam clay and how to keep the texture and grooves in it as it drys. It seems after I leave it over night I wake up an d most of the texture if not all is gone. Do I need to constantly carve into the foam to keep texture? You help with this would be extremely helpful as I am making a foam pumpkin now and using foam clay on the stem. Thank you.
@SKSProps Жыл бұрын
Don’t worry that’s normal. Every brand is different and why mine has a higher moisture content. but Foam clay on average will smooth out details as moisture wicks out of it so you have to sculpt them much deeper than you might think. Also why on props I’ll just let it dry for several days and detail it using my rotary tool and wire brushes

Watching this from my home in the Scottish highlands where Halloween isn’t a big deal….unfortunately, as I love it. Your work is incredible and I wish I had the means to try making stuff here - everything sold up here is super expensive due to transport costs and tax, but if I win the lottery or bag myself a sugar daddy, (who’d have to be pretty old given that I’m 45), I’d buy everything I needed to keep me making stuff for the rest of my life! Much love from the Isle of Skye 👍🏻🏴

So, I use foam clay a lot, but for fake food.... I also make "horror dolls" from thrift shop dolls, and honestly I never thought to use foam clay because I wasn't sure if it would shrink or dry wonky... I usually use dap sir dry clay, but that has its own potential issues and I don't have as much of it around. Now, seeing this, it has me rethinking that thought process, lol! I also use plumber putty, which is a 2 part clay epoxy that is WAYYYY cheaper than the artist 2 part epoxy putty and is basically the same thing. I just find it dries a bit faster, so it's harder to work W if you need more time to scuplt it. So glad I watched this video 😁 thank you!!

Amazing video! I'm making my first prop with SKS Prop Foam Clay. Could I use Mod Podge as a primer instead of Plasti Dip or Flexbond?
@SKSProps3 ай бұрын
Depends on if it’s outside modpodge is water based and can have issues in the elements. But if it’s inside should be ok. But I would only use plastidip or flexbond if it’s for costumes. Mod podge will wrinkle the foam
@kaylashepherd85263 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your insight! I’m making a dagger that’s going to be more of a decorative piece and kept inside (and hopefully will last a long time). In a previous video where you made prosthetic horns with SKS Prop Foam Clay, I think you didn’t use any primer and just used acrylic paint. Will a piece have longevity without a primer/with just Mod Podge as a primer? Thank you again!! I really appreciate it
