How to Carve a craft Foam Pumpkin DnD Mimic using a Foam Pumpkin, eva foam, and foam clay. In this video I go over all of the steps it takes to fabricate your own foam DnD Mimic Pumpkin. From cutting the pumpkin using a hot knife to sculpting on additional details using eva HD Foam and Foam Clay I also show how I painted this pumpkin using Liquitex acrylics and Createx airbrush paints. I really appreciate seeing your full painting process for this. Layering up my paint has always been soemthing I've struggled with achieving.

Easy fix. Go get some cheap water color paint. Paint a piece of paper with each color let it fully dry. Come back and paint a line from every color you got on each piece of paper. Yes even red on red. However we are not done yet After everything has dried come back and do a second pass of each color on half the line from the previous painting session. This will give you a visual road map for how paints layer on top of each other. How extra coats can change the look Now any paint that is not a mono pigment paint will mix differently. But it will give you knowledge of what to look for. If you are worried about non pigment paints and how they can be slightly goofy. Don't worry there is a cure for that as well. Paint a paint grid onto a new set of base color pages. Letting a red blue yellow vs red blue green paint combination and how it looks be a simple reference for you.

Yeah! I always meant to make my sculpted pumpkins and mold them and then cast them out of cold foam so I can have them forever but I didn't want to do all that. So now I can do this. I put this comment here cuz I like your stuff too. Star Wars and all that junk and stuff.

Be careful though modeling clay is not the same as something like my foam clay. It dries out quicker and is heavier. So that’s why products like model magic develop cracks due to the rapid shrinking

Thank you, I forgot about my foam pumpkin I bought like 10 years ago and didn't know what to do with it. So it got lost in the pile of never gotten to. Back at that time everybody wasn't going crazy about making everything out of foam. And since then you came out with all the good foam products, BIG THANK YOU! I make a lot of stuff out of a lot of things and foam has become one of my favorites. I've also sculpted a lot of pumpkins. And when I say sculpted I don't mean curving a jack-o'-lantern. I even made a silicone mold once of one of my pumpkins but never casted it in anything. What you did there is what I was meant to did there... Now it has a purpose.

I made similar teeth for a scary project this year using termoworx plastic from Amazon. They're so easy, you just melt the little beads in hot water and then mould them into the shape of a tooth. I ended up also using scissors to cut the ends to look sharper. I definitely want to give this pumpkin a try next year!

One thing to remember with foam is that acetone will give you great effects. But it must be used in very small amounts until you get used to how fast it works and what kind of effects you can get with it. Say a spray bottle on mist held up high to other implements etc. Remembering that true art is about experimentation... Good luck & peace I loved watching your video

Thanks! Chemicals like that can work with xps foam have little to no effect on eva. For eva heat tools and guns are the best for getting some cool textures 👍
