Since I only watch competitive Melee, I don't know the answer to this: At 8:22, S2J has a string of 3 up throws that PP has perfect DI on, every time. At that percentage, would one of those have been better as a down throw? You can d throw into knee, can't you? I swear, I've seen that before. But all of the latest Falcon videos I watch don't seem to have down throw anymore. I wonder if Falcon players could change the meta if they were able to more reliably use other moves. Falcon Kick has its time and place - Darkrain uses it pretty well. Down tilt is pretty good, isn't it? It seems under used...I dunno, though, like I said, I just watch.

I didn't see a single situation where Falcon Kick would have helped. Nor dtilt. Both moves have their uses, just not against whatever PP was doing. Dthrow knee on spacies is at something close to 200% with bad DI. Uthrow knee doesn't always work if they DI like PP did here.

darkphoenix2 d throw knee doesnt work on fast fallers like the spacies. Its much more reliable on midweights to floaties. D throw usually leads to tech chases on fast fallers.

Downthrow doesn't lead into anything on Falco. It's great to start techchasing, or if they're by the edge you can run off -> knee. Otherwise at reasonable percents downthrow gets you nowhere. Falcon Kick is silly for techchasing but is extremely situational because of its negligible knockback, damage, and its substantial ending lag. It's very easy to shieldgrab. Downtilt is ok for edgeguarding and can sometimes lead to knees.

I may be wrong, maybe its only fox, but I think if you down throw a spacy off the edge and fall with a knee, it can connect. If that's what you were thinking originally, hopefully that helps

I can understand the smoothness of PM being a negative to high level players who have adjusted to the lag times of melee, but to say "no where near" is just retarded. PM was designed to play like melee, and it does. Some people are really elitist to melee because they have played it first.
