I’m grateful I stumbled upon your channel, I’m gaining so much knowledge from your experience. I am a new tattoo artist in love with fine line. I bought my first machine 8 months ago and fresh to this field, now that I can learn from you I feel more confident in my capabilities. Thank you for sharing and teaching from honesty. You are helping so many artists by sharing your experiences, thank you!

I'm glad my videos help. I don't ask for anything for these tattoos so all I ask is for you to practice tattooing responsibly! Give me a clear conscience through you. Practice hard so you can produce clean work and happy customers. Seek an apprenticeship if you can too. the rate of learning is so much more if your mind is right. Thank you!

Amazing work.. do you think it’s possible to achieve something similar with a 3RL ? And how do you prevent the skin to become red and swollen after so much time working on it ? :) thank you so much.
@jjjaylud
@jjjaylud Жыл бұрын
I think so, but you will notice it isn't as "sharp". It's a tiny difference though. If you look at Pawel Indulski or his brother Piotr, you can see he can also get extremely precise with a 3 and smooth too. I don't know if they uses greywash or mags too but the result is great regardless. Swollen depends on the persons skin, area, voltage, machine type, cartridge quality, and most importantly the tattooer's handiwork. It's a lot of factors so I can't tell you exactly..

Hi! Could I ask if maybe you know if pavel and piotr also use 3.5 stroke using 3rl or would it be more suitable to use 4.0 to achieve similar results? Thank you in advance 🙏🏻

Does the stencil slowly fading everytime your finger rubs against it? Also, what's that glossy stuff on your right hand?

@manoneisene-gad8819 Жыл бұрын
are you just using pure black and building up slowly or are you using grey wash?
@jjjaylud
@jjjaylud Жыл бұрын
Pure black. It's possible because the single needle makes small "pixels" so from far away it looks light. And shallower too(but not too shallow where it will fade). I'm not as experienced with greywash but I know it can be done too ofc, just heals differently.

hi hiii! so lately my stipple shading had been better, but i notice i still have a hard time building up the much darker areas with stippling, especially when i want to make a nice gradient between areas. i worry about going over an area with stippling too much, but maybe that’s necessary? i also had someone recommend to me actually speeding up my machine more for shading instead of slowing it way down because they said i might be moving my hand too fast woth the voltage too low so its not making significant dots. would love to hear your input on this! i mostly use an 0803rl for shading, but sometimes use a standard single or an 0801rl. oh also my machine stroke is 3.5! would it be better to have 4?
@jjjaylud
@jjjaylud Жыл бұрын
- Yeah its pretty hard to build the darker tones with stippling whether you are moving your entire pen to dot it or whipping the pen to whip shade. Whip shading is faster ofc but still takes a while to build. I'll have to add many layers to get to the darker tones. I mix this in with my tight "scribbling" technique. You'll notice it in my vids when I'm hitting the dark areas. But Even then it is still hard n requires a lot of patience but that's the best way for me and afaik. - Using a 3rl is easier to build darker tones ofc and yes using a stronger machine and/or higher stroke will speed it up too. And going a bit deeper and slowing down may help yes. But all that mentioned may risk overworking the skin so proceed with caution. - And to answer you, whether you want 3.5/4 stroke or soft/hard machine, it all has pros and cons. I use 3.5 but put up with the cons. I feel like 4 has more cons but maybe that's just based on my style technique perspective. There are other styles and combinations of all these machines, settings and needles and needle types so I can't speak anything beyond what I do and know. - This is just the drawback of using a single. Mags might be a good option for you to mix in when you need to speed things up. - I say this often but I urge you to seek apprenticeships if you haven't already. Too many do this on their own and although talented, there are gaps and blindspots in their game. I see it but I don't say much because it comes off like "who asked you?". Imagine how they would do if they took the time with an apprenticeship and are more well rounded.

@@jjjaylud wow what a thorough reply, thank you so much! i’ve commented on a few of your other vids and always gotten a detailed reply, and just want to say i really appreciate it because i know you must be busy! :) i actually already did an apprenticeship and everything and am a licensed artist now (got my license in september so i’m still very new to the game), but it was kinda shit and the guy didnt know much about fine line specifically which is what i am doing. there seems to be such a lack of info on fine line tattoo techniques out there unless you get a good apprenticeship with an artist in that style unfortunately, but they arent that common in my area. you’re feedback is super helpful, especially since you don’t know the specifics of my situation but still try to help out, really thank you a bunch

1 rl 35 mm looks same in lines that a 3 rl 25mm? I used a 3 rl 30 mm and looks so thick:( wich one do you recommend? Thanks 🙏💙
@jjjaylud
@jjjaylud Жыл бұрын
Yeah they kind of look the same but to me they look different(if you are experienced enough). And feels very different to use too. I recommend you use 3RL, try both 30 and 25mm, if single needle is too hard. The tattoos will look better if you just use 3 because not being able to control the 1RL will leave many many mistakes easily.
