The record label had no interest in the band at all and it was a shame as they were still really good!

@@lesschoenberger3070 Pretty good, anyway. Remember, as Keith above is surely aware, Kay wasn't writing songs anymore and was only there to fulfill contracts, as Fogerty once had to do with CCR, so he was looking toward the possible success of solo albums. As that didn't work out for him, whether doing country songs or lighter rock tunes, the same with the pop songs of the 80's ('John Kay and Steppenwolf' wasn't any other earlier members at all), he should of put more energy and resources into the original band which garnered him his only fame. Hindsight isn't foresight.
