I’m actually impressed at this myself. At first, i didn’t like her much, but now…damn she’s fun! It’s been a long time since i saw a character that was so…well thought out and so fun to watch. The Skullheart's definition by pure is that it doesn't try to destroy or break the cycle of life and humanity, nor are they influenced by such, Black Dahlia clearly only cares about the thrill (and seeing people's beliefs and morals shattered), she doesn't avoid death, which has been most of the wishes made on the skullheart (Squigly's mother to protect the contello, Parasoul's mother to unite the nations to avoid wars, Annie's mother to keep Annie "pure" by making her a non-aging being, and Marie's want to destroy the medicis)

The beginning of this Story Mode was frustrating. I don't know why Skullgirls' developers thought it was a smart idea to have Marie be Black Dahlia's first opponent in her story, especially since there's a very highly change for people to try out the Story Mode first. I ended up rematching Marie nearly a dozen times before I could finally beat her. But the absolute weirdest part about all of this is that the fights that happened after Marie were easier.

This lady is a pioneer. The first cyborg of the ASG and the first to go mad from her time there because of the experimentation done to rebuild her body. Now here she is 50 to 60 years old and can fight as good as a girl a quarter of her age. I guess that's what insane bloodlust and cybernetics can do for ya. Now Peacock's ending makes more sense now. She was fighting her senior, in every sense of the word. Still I might lie her even more if we got voice lines in these recent character stories. Also I find it funny she's like 350lbs and 100 of those is actually organic, lol.

Dahlia is like Irina Jelavic but maybe Class 3-E (Assassination Classroom) like Irina Jelavic who is already evil but even though they are fellow assassins the difference is that Class 3-E kills to save innocent lives which has been taught by Korosensei even though Korosensei must be killed by them whereas Dahlia is more dangerous considering killing innocents as her entertainment especially if meeting Class 3-E at the crossover would be more similar to Peacock's Story in the last part especially Class 3-E finds out that she is a hitman who looks like Grandma dressed from a funeral because maybe Class 3 -E really doesn't like them, especially Dahlia, sometimes she hates them even more because maybe Class 3-E is like the Big Band who teases her even though she wants to kill they but Maybe Dahlia doesn't like Class 3-E here then let their live because their behavior is like Korosensei who likes to interfere in her and her organization's affairs and maybe they contradictory to each other.

Wow. Out of all the upcoming characters I can't believe Dahlia's story would be the most intriguing. Before her release as a full character I had just thought of her as an imposing, albeit bland killer- but juxtaposing that same "blandness", or in this case purity with the Skull Heart itself was an amazing decision. Her story mode managed to shine a light not just at Dahlia and reveal a surprising complexity beneath that "permanent smile" of hers, but at the Skull Heart as well.

Huh, well, I didn’t know what I was expecting, but this certainly ended being way more interesting than I expected, so many surprises happened in this one, from the Skullgirl being the first opponent (which in turn lead into a sort of characterization for the Skull Heart) to seeing Eliza’s Defeated Model and her death (which i know some people has been wishing for) to the death of Vitale right in front of Cerebella (I hope she was listening to his final words) to the appearances of Robo-Fortune as well as Fukua (I was already wondering about R.F.’s Canonicity when she appeared in Annie’s Story, but now I also wonder if Fukua is now Canon too?) to Ms. Fortune still ending-up being killed-off despite all that talk about her between Dahlia and the Heart, everything else sort of became predictable after that(with maybe the exception of the Ending, seriously what happened there?), but still this was a way more interesting and entertaining ride than I could’ve expected. I gotta say though, this Story Mode did a lot for Black Dahlia, up until now I just thought of her as the Medici Boss’s personal henchwoman and bodyguard and I feel like that was probably how most of us view her too, I mean that is how she mostly appeared to be, but it seems like there was more to her than meets the eye, which makes her much more interesting and what find almost as interesting is how she seems to be connected to almost the entire Cast in some way, from her having a position in the Medici Mafia to once being a former member of the ASG to being one who killed Squigly and her family as well as Ms. Fortune and her gang, honestly at this point I wonder if she might have any other connections? She does seem share a name with someone of importance to Samson, could that really be a coincidence I wonder? Honestly, this might just be yet another of my favorite Story Modes of this Game and can’t wait to hear it be voiced at some point, Though, i might just have one caveat with this Story Mode, which is that: I can’t really believe all the things that Dahlia apparently did in this Story, ‘Cause really, based on her design alone, while still interesting in it’s own right, doesn’t really look like much, she really does just look like some Mafia Lady with a Big Gun for an Arm, it doesn’t really look like she would be capable of much else, at least in comparison to any of the other Characters, of course, I do know about “don’t judge a book by its cover” and all that, but still, so if this Story Mode really is supposed to be one of the Timelines that might have happen at some point, I can’t help but to wonder what made Black Dahlia so powerful in this one? With Eliza it was more believable, with her abilities and already established reputation, it felt like she really could have been able to do the things she did her Story, Heck, the way she got taken down in this Story, was by having her not being able regenerate like she normally does, leaving her weakened enough to get torched(speaking of which, where was Eliza’s two Lackeys throughout all of this? You’d think they’d be there to aid their boss, but we haven’t seen them in a cutscene since Eliza’s Story, feels weird honestly), So anyway, in comparison to that, Dahlia doesn’t seem like to have that much going of her, so it really makes me wonder what exactly happened throughout this Story Mode? But, i guess you really can’t be too sure when it comes to Fighting Games, can be really hard to tell who could be capable of what, really just makes me wish for another material for this Series like a Show or a Comic even more, Anyway, despite it all, I still enjoy this Story Mode, really makes me wonder what’s next for this Series. Also, that was a pretty interesting note to end on, with apparently a little more characterization for the Trinity Sister’s, i wonder what there story is and if we’ll learn more about them eventually, And i wonder if they will be playable at some point or just be Boss Characters? Actually, i would be fine with them just being Bosses, because not every Character needs to be Playable and some Characters are just more of a fit to be Bosses more than anything else.

Forget monsters, they can work in shifts to protect themselves.
