I only bought this album to fit in with the cool crowd at school back in 1996. I thought they would like me if I started listening to the same music as them. I actually ended up actually enjoying some of the songs off of Stoosh, especially this and We Love Your Apathy but then I got into metal and ultimately eschewed mainstream music. My CD now resides with my sister who always wanted my copy anyway but I still enjoy some songs from it. Thanks KZbin and whoever uploaded it.

this is pretty good, but there's equally good music being made nowadays too. it's such a shame that so many people appreciate good music when they were young become so narrowminded.

"Twisted (Everyday Hurts)" Released: November 1996 I cried on my blood day There was nothing that I could hold on to Just a line could have helped Remind me of you, of you I screamed till the blood came I was living in a cloud of hope Lover's kiss then they make a wish to the end They pretend 'cause everyday hurts a little more And everyday hurts a little more And i'll do anything, yes i'll do anything To belong to be strong To say there's nothing wrong Everyday hurts a little more Yes everyday hurts a little more And i'll be anything, yes i'll be anything To belong to be strong To say there's nothing wrong Everyday hurts Everyday hurts Everyday hurts I cried in the sunlight Would I fake all the times I loved you Just a play in a game I twisted with you, with you I need to believe you Sacrificed all the lies we made up How we kissed Then we made our wish to the end To the end (repeat chorus) Time made me confide in you So contrived were the words you sold me Now nothing can swallow The feeling so shallow inside (repeat chorus) Produced by Garth Richardson Written by Skin & Len Arran Album STOOSH (1996)

SKUNK ANANSIE - STOOSH Skunk Anansie are a British rock band whose members include Skin (lead vocals, guitar), Cass (bass, guitar, backing vocals), Ace (guitar, backing vocals) and Mark Richardson (drums and percussion). Skunk Anansie formed in 1994, disbanded in 2001 and reformed in 2009. The name "Skunk Anansie" is taken from Akan folk tales of Anansi the spider-man of Ghana, with "Skunk" added to "make the name nastier". They have released six studio albums: Paranoid & Sunburnt (1995), Stoosh (1996), Post Orgasmic Chill (1999), Wonderlustre (2010), Black Traffic (2012) and Anarchytecture (2016); one compilation album, Smashes and Trashes (2009); and several hit singles, including "Charity", "Hedonism", "Selling Jesus" and "Weak". They are often grouped as part of the Britrock movement, as opposed to the contemporary Britpop of their early years due to their overall harder sound. The band, in 2004, was named as one of the most successful UK chart acts between 1952 and 2003 by the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles & Albums, with a total of 142 weeks on both the singles and album charts ranking them at No. 491. Skunk Anansie have sold 5 million records. Influences: Skin has described Skunk Anansie as a "clit-rock" group, which Allmusic clarifies as "an amalgam of heavy metal and black feminist rage". Members Skin and Ace have mentioned the Sex Pistols, Blondie, dub, reggae, electronica, hip-hop and world music as significant influences. Other media: The band also covered The Stooges' song "Search and Destroy" specifically for the soundtrack of Zack Snyder's film Sucker Punch, released on 25 March 2011. The soundtrack also includes a Skunk Anansie remix of the song "Army of Me" by Björk. Band members: Deborah "Skin" Dyer - lead vocals, guitar, theremin, piano, keyboards (1994-2001; 2009-present), Martin "Ace" Kent - guitar, backing vocals (1994-2001; 2009-present), Richard "Cass" Lewis - bass, guitar, backing vocals (1994-2001; 2009-present), Mark Richardson - drums, percussion, backing vocals (1995-2001; 2009-present), Former members: Robbie France - drums, percussion (1994-1995; died 2012), Touring members: Erika Footman - keyboards, backing vocals. The discography of Skunk Anansie, an English rock band, consists of six studio albums and twenty-four singles, including one re-issue. The band's members include Skin (Deborah Dyer), Cass (Richard Lewis), Ace (Martin Kent) and Mark Richardson. The group formed in 1994 and disbanded in 2001; they re-united in 2009. Skunk Anansie are named after the West African folk tales of Anansi the Spider-man, with "Skunk" added to "make the name nastier". And I have the great, great honor of having five CD-albums in my discography, including the greatest hits collection by Skunk Anansie, led by the charismatic vocalist and songwriter, Skin. Therefore, I have the CD-Album PARANOID & SUNBURNT (1995), only a single copy. The second studio CD-Album, STOOSH (1996), I think was the biggest commercial success of the group, I also have a single copy of this CD-Album. I still have two units of Skunk Anansie's third studio CD-Album, entitled POST ORGASMIC CHILL (1999), one of my favorites. And, finally, also a single copy of the collection SMASHES AND TRASHES (2009), also on CD-Album, which includes the hits from the three previous CD-albums, three new songs and two acoustic versions. As I mentioned, there are five Skunk Anansie CD-albums! Stoosh is the second studio album by British rock band Skunk Anansie, released on 7 October 1996. Professional ratings: AllMusic's Tom Demalon stated: "Skunk Anansie's full-frontal charge can be wearing at times, but for a good dose of aggressive, hard rock with better-than-average lyrics, Stoosh succeeds more than it fails." Tom Sinclair of Entertainment Weekly wrote that the record "finds Skunk Anansie trading their debut's polite Pat Benatar-ish rock for a bigger, more confrontational sound that flirts with metallic overkill even as it embraces folk and pop", adding that "they've toughened up with Stoosh." In 2005, Stoosh was ranked number 367 in Rock Hard magazine's book The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time. In 2020, PopMatters's Enio Chiola featured the record on its list for "15 Overlooked and Underrated Albums of the 1990s." Personnel: Skunk Anansie: Skin - vocals, theremin, backing vocals, Cass - bass guitar, backing vocals, Ace - guitars, Mark Richardson - drums, percussion, backing vocals. I remember being a 13 year old teenage girl and being really confused at the reaction I felt whenever I saw her as my only real crushes had been years before like single digit ages on Robbie Williams, Brian Harvey I think his surname was from east17, but my teens hit and she confused me big time, I loved how she didn't present herself to fit in and be appealing to men, I gathered I just liked her confidence but then I found Alanis Morissette too who although more feminine her songs were not desperate for love, men, romance or typical heartbreak. They were about life experience, anger, oppression, frustration, when they were about love they were on a more profound spiritual level which introduced me to the concept of Love & the depth, respect and a perspective based on a mutual passion and emotions, not what I'd previously believed love was eg. beauty based, revolving around sex, gifts, and if it was real love it had to end in marriage and children whether straight or gay! She sang of her anger at betrayal and she wasn't 'pleasant' or 'ladylike' doing so. She said the things we think but as women are taught not to say, she spoke her truth as any man is allowed which at first shocked me but gradually taught me that yes, I too have that right and if it upsets traditionalists that isn't my issue to deal with. Both women showed me in their own ways that women don't exist to appease men, not physically, not in our life choices, not in any single way. They were both very individual in appearance, self conduct. Their art wasn't created to please, they weren't scantily clad or seductive,.they didn't try to appeal to women singing about soulmates and broken hearts. They wrote about their real unfiltered experiences whether good bad angry disappointed and made no attempt to soften their message, edit their art by softening or making their content more feminine, more approachable, more appropriate they showed millions of girls and women that we have the right to be angry when we are abused, disrespected, manipulated and lied to but we can also experience heartbreak, we can hurt, BUT we could choose to learn and heal and grow from that as opposed to the majority of female singers before who had led us to believe the heartache was of our own doing and we needed to go over and over what it was that WE had done to cause our men to treat us so wrongly or to cheat or to leave, it had always been our fault with song after song wondering how to get him back, to apologise for what? You don't yet know, to 'win him back', to stop him from leaving. These and many other female artists taught us we are so much more but sadly it seems that message is getting lost again and now female artists are evolving into sexual performers, very few still convey important messages, most are now just hypersexualised, completely controlled with no talent, literal ly lacking any self respect and wearing, singing and dancing absolutely whatever they're told to.
