That’s like giving them away. $500 in parts, the price should be closer to $1,500 for a sustainable business. I’ve built one of these an they are the best I’ve ever listened to. I just want to thank you, after having a lot of hum and then watching you videos explaining the way you built it. I then went back to the drawing board rebuilt it in the same enclosure all be it i added the metal cage you can get from hammond also. Now it sound perfect no hum nothing… im ao greatful for your input and want to say thks

I built one of these after watching your videos and when I finished it and turned it on it just blew me away at how it sounded. Total upgrade in every aspect sound wise. Also coupling caps I used were Sprague Orange Drop for the two small value caps and Mondorf for the 1uF cap. Tubes were JJ E83CC.

Probably know anyway but thought I would mention it since I too have the Willsenton R8 amp. Looking up China Hifi they have in fact updated your recommendations in the current models. There is no Mk II added to the model. Regards.

Awesome! BTW, the convention for 4 dig tubes is to pair the digits; seventy-twenty five, sixty five-fifty, etc. It makes it easier to rattle off these numbers

There is DEFINITELY a market for this product. I would just be careful about pricing them too low. To someone’s earlier point, this is probably a $1,500 product - especially if you started making them in any volume and could send the chassis’ out for actual powder coating. A couple of Patrons are going to get a screaming deal, but do take a moment to gauge the overall interest and the sustainability of meeting the demand and make sure you’re not ripping yourself off. I think you might be surprised by just how many of us are ready to buy one of these!

I am mainly doing this right now as a perk for my Patrion supporters. Some channels do "giveaway" type things, but in the US any kind of contest opens up a bunch of legal requirements.

I obtained some Shuguang 12AX7 - T tubes. (Natural Sound) series. These totally changed the sound of this preamp. Bass is more present and silky warm mids. I kinda love these tubes.

1st let me say that this clone is impossible to beat for the price even at list when they were being made. At $800.00 it's a steal!! I will add that I highly recommend spending $$$ on a cartridge and the phono-stage as the turntables at $1500 are good enough for most. It was rare in my short retail audio life as a teen, I'm 67 now that I didn't sell phono-stages and cartridges that were double the cost of the turntable (it's money well spent)! In closing I'll just add that I hope this goes well for you...

I think a high end tube phono preamp that is hand built and tested by someone who knows what they’re doing should go for considerably more.

I am very interested in purchasing either of the two silver or gold units. Please let me know if this phono stage will only work with MM cartridges. I have a 0.5mV MC cartridge that I use with a step transformer with into my preamp with built in phono. Will your unit work without the step up into a line stage preamp?

Never understood the need for having rca jacks on the top of the chassis. Ugly. Then, there are some with input jacks on one end and the output jacks at the other . I'm not an electrical engineer, so you'd forgive me for complaining. Thanks

Short signal path inside the noisy amp interior plus keep the VERY low level signal away from the power supply. It's about form follows function.
