What was your speed before to now

About 10-20 some rooms below 5-10 but now it seams to have gotten higher as all the sky q and boosters have connected and it has sort of settled in. In some rooms we have up to 50-56 (which is what the super fast boost is meant to be) however in my room it is normally bellow 20. Most rooms are 30. It has a good reach for the size of our house.

Feels like such a long time ago we recorded this even though it was only 3 years ago! An update: currently on 70mb when your near the router and we have just been offered fibre to the home which will bring speeds up drastically (1000+mb possible) and allow more devices to be connected at once which the copper cables struggled to do. Can’t believe this video almost has 100k views!

Hi Ican u help me please? Ive recently got this hub and the WiFi is great. I downloaded the sky hub app and had full control of all devices using the WiFi. Until yesterday when I come home from work to find that the app is not connected to hub. I've tried connected it but for some reason it won't connect. I received notification saying my hub is set on factory reset default. Don't understand because all devices in the house are connected to hub.

Crazy to think this is 4 years old and it was the latest sky router...Yet I have only just been sent one of these in the past couple of months despite being a sky customer of 18 years....Not only that..I had to BUY myself the previous "lastest router" ER115 (within the past 6 months) off ebay because I had not been sent one of those either....I was still having to use the old SR101...As it is the SR203 (shown here) doesn't give be the same speed as the ER115 (cabled as I don't use a wifi conection.)..so I went back to the ER115....The speed is rubbish btw...well less than 10 mbps dl (just checked it's 6.2 ) and only about 2 mbps up.

Have recently signed up for an 18 month contract for Sky Broadband but we're still awaiting for an engineer visit in a fortnight. May I ask hours your experience with the speeds, stability and performance of your Sky broadband? And how's your experience with their customer support line?

Gino Guillermo this router is much better than the old one, I can’t be sure how good it would be in your house but I expect it will be very good. The engineers are delayed because of coronavirus but I expect they will arrive within a fortnight and they are very good and often provide free boosters if the WiFi isn’t up to standard, same with when you call them customer service is excellent.

@@toby.maximillian Reading online about Sky and from people I've met they Sky is not good when it comes to fiber broadband. They guaranteed speeds but after s few months they speed and stability degrades in time. Equivalent Virgin Media the speed I could get would be far faster and I could get discounts as I'm a key worker. Sky doesn't give discounts to people like me which is a shame really.

It really depends on where you live, sky is much cheaper than virgin and if you have unstable speeds sky should refund you. I am not an expert so i don’t know. However you will get big discounts if your with sky mobile which we have and is a very good 4G provider, better than EE which we used to have and this will give you discounts the longer you have it. I live in a 3 story brick house and the speeds are fine and average around 50 speeds. My parents are also key workers.

Virgin Media just installed lines in our building and won't be active in a fortnight. Saying that they said they may drill holes into the property (front door) but I dunno if our landlord will allow that.

We live in a really old house we were not supposed to put double glazing in (we did) and it’s listed. We probably weren’t supposed to put wooden carports around it either. Since your house is new I would imagine that the landlord would want the best technologies

Those are outstanding speeds. I don’t think you will be getting lag with that! Unfortunately we don’t live in an area with great WiFi services so this is just about how high we can get. With sky anyway. Thank-you for watching the video, hope you could subscribe as-well :)

Hi, as an elderly gentleman, what is the process involved to get Sky Q Box to talk to Router, or am I missing something?

It is very simple, all you need to do is hold the WPS button on both devices and after a few minutes when both lights are green you should be good to go. :) Another way (the proper way) is to go into settings and make sure that the network connection is ticked, if not then you can re-do the network connection. Also it is always worth to do that even if it is ticked if your internet speed is slow in it, the Sky Q box will act as a range extender when connected, if you didn’t know that already. If the router is far away, you might want to bring it closer to the SkyQ hub if you have any closer telephone cables nearby, eventually we had sky put a ethernet (copper cable) down from where the router is located to where the sky Q hub is located. So then the SkyQ hub would have a hard wired stable and very fast speeds the same as you would get if you were close by to the router, this also allowed us to connect our TV, sounbar and any other devices like a game console in. Hope this helps!

This video is a bit embarrassing because we were quite young then. So to the comments who say that we might not know the proper names, looking back on the video now we might understand a little where you were coming from. :) Currently, we have internet hardwired to many devices so we are getting 50 download from far away places like our sky Q box, that being hardwired we get the exact same speeds as in the router room, which is great because our SkyQ box acts as a network extender, same with the SkyQ mini box.

Why you not connect the router to your sky box wirelessly? You don’t need a wire. Signal won’t be as good but better then running a long wire all round the house

We found that it would definitely be worth it, as we moved our router downstairs so now it’s connected directly to our booster using Ethernet. It just gives us more reliable internet that we need in a house of this size.

@@everythingcubed4210 We have super fast broadband sky q broadband package and live in large house too and we get over 60mbps with over 30 upload speeds and not had any problems at all. Also, our router is plugged straight into the master socket. I highly recommended this for faster Internet. Plugging routers into extension phone lines really slows down speeds..

@@CyberWolfVR Yes, we moved it upstairs because it is on the middle floor and because it means we can connect our downstairs TV to ethernet. The reason why we have ethernet is because our skyQ box acts like a booster so we have the same speeds as the router upstairs as we do downstairs. Also the walls in our house are very thick.

sunny legend. I think it is worth upgrading to the super fast one as 11 won’t Be enough to play your games. You should Be able to upgrade from the website. Another option could Be to get a engineer around to have a look. They may Be able to get a booster but I think the best solution is to upgrade to super fast. I think you should get a sky engineer to come around after the virus or attach your xbox through Ethernet directly from your router or booster. You can do this either by moving your router, getting somebody to install a Ethernet cable. Sometimes it can just take a few days to for the router to get familiar. What are your speeds around your house, what is your house size, how does it cope with other things like KZbin and what model is your Xbox? Hopefully this helps. How do you find the range? I binned my V3 router and kept my V2 black box from Sky because the V3 was designed to work with Q, where the Q mini boxes act as WiFi extenders.

~Put the router in the middle of the house, you can use any phone socket (remember to put the micro filter adapter in) *phone sockets aren’t as good as master sockets* then you should get better range.

@@rg4905 Try typing 192.168. 0.1 into safari or google and make sure everything looks right, make sure most things are on automatic. You might want to try 2.4 Gigerherts Because that tends to Be the best for long range, but will deliver slower speeds. (When prompted enter the username: admin and password: sky OR, your WIFI password)

It’s relatively small expect no more that 3 inches wide and the face of it is probably two thirds of a A4 sheet, there may be specifications on the sky website. :)

So this is the latest sky hub (4.2) and I think it’s called sky broadband so it is the best. If you are already with sky and your upgrading, depending on what plan you have then you could get the free upgrade like we did.

Hello, we recently made a video of us getting fibre with the same router - be sure to check it out! The router works with both copper and fibre, for fibre connections there is a box that is installed that converts the light into Ethernet that plugs into the routers WAN port. :)

The voice line will never be green without a phone connection, we don’t use landline either so make sure if using Ethernet that the port isn’t in the phone port and then mabye turn of and on your router.

Sorry to hear that, maybe try moving it into different places Ect, sometimes it can depend on your location but sky could help you out with a booster or something. You may also want to upgrade to the upgraded plan which is for 56 megabits a second whereas the standard one is like 20 something I believe.

Hello, yes you should be entitled to it for free. We have had to phone sky in order to get things like our fibre, hub and boosters, we got the hub because we complained about the awful performance of the sky Q hub (mainly because it got extremely hot) and then it got delivered promptly.

We upgraded for free. My brother was watching videos on the router and found out that we could get a free upgrade so we called them and we got it. I think it sometimes depends on which plan you are on. Hopefully you enjoyed the video. I saw the router on amazon for £99.99 and was confused on either of it was free or not, I’ve tried to contact sky but with the new COVID-19 rules it suggests that I don’t phone them but to use the app but didn’t help - What is the plan you purchased called ?

The one from before was super fast fibre but they changed the naming so now it’s super fast and the other option for lower speeds is essential or something like that. An ethernet cable isn't included? That's pretty stingy of Sky. So Sky are assuming that all their new broadband customers, or the majority of them, will be using WiFi. If there's no computer shop in someone's nearest town, that means that they'll have to travel miles and miles just to get an ethernet cable. Then again, I suppose you could just buy one before switching ISP, just in case your next chosen ISP doesn't provide one.

There is amazon, where you can get a cable within days + usually people would have many Ethernet cables, for we have about 20 things plugged into ethernet right now. I suppose sky might have changed now and provide an Ethernet depending if your a new customer or not.

I have a sky Q and my speed is 50 but I game upstairs Warzone and I bought a TP link extender RE 200 which is 40 quid and it makes the speed consistent through the house

Try connecting Ethernet if possible, I had the EXACT same problem, the speeds were high (100mbps + ) but it was still laggy. I connect my PS5 via Ethernet cable from a power line extender (tp link av600). Ethernet always works better

If you weren’t on sky before then they have to take some time to reset the line. In the box somewhere there may be a switching line code or information on it.

Definately, we do the same if you like you can have a cable wired directly to your sky router. However it tends to be that People will have sky boxes on there PlayStation screen so you can just connect it straight in and in the PlayStation network settings you can connect via the cable.

I definitely think you can as long as it has the same ports on the ends then it doesn’t matter what colour the cable is : black, yellow, purple it will all work Mabey some better than others but it should be fine. If this still isn’t possible to connect a wire from your router / sky boxes / any company then it can just be wireless. I see that you seem to have gotten the hang of it but if you have any questions then I’m happy to reply :) so are you on sky then? How’s it doing for you? What’s your settup like? Do you have like the sky mini boxes or another kind of provider? and others if you wish. Did you rerember to subscribe? ;) what speeds do you have on what plan?

Make sure to double check the steps and connections and maybe change the room plus any interference such as metallic. Sometimes it takes time, if not then Mabey reach out to sky for help.

There was a shortage in the sky Network for a bit. Mabey you could contact sky support and get a engineer who can get you a booster or it may just need a bit of a sort out such as: a reset and relocation.

Used to have bt fibre and just recently switched to sky fibre and was the biggest mistake ever it’s absolutely terrible internet its like McDonald’s wifi but McDonald’s is better sky is an absolute terrible internet company had there normal internet years ago when i was little and it’s literally the exact same terrible internet

Sorry to hear that, maybe try moving it into different places Ect, sometimes it can depend on your location but sky could help you out with a booster or something. You may also want to upgrade to the upgraded plan which is for 56 megabits a second whereas the standard one is like 20 something I believe.

For the speed and rubbish router you get, sky is over priced. With BT I get 70 Meg down and 20 Meg up, 2 mobiles with 3 & 8GB of data, a free WiFi hotspot if my WiFi goes down and unlimited data for free too if that happens, BT Sports for half price, and landline anytime unlimited for £30 a month. BEAT THAT SKY!!!! I’ve had BT for 15 Years now and the price is always the same. We also got a free Amazon echo dot too when we renewed our contract. My grandparents had sky and nothing but problems with price speed and signal. They live In a two bedroom flat and couldn’t get signal in the kitchen which is the room directly behind the router! Our BT Smart hub gets us signal across the road at the neighbours and if it breaks, they’ll send a brand new one for free next day delivery. Sky in all are a rubbish company. Try and see if you stick with them any more than 2 years before you start paying double what you signed up for.

We have been with them for about 20 years which has earned us good loyalty and lots of free stuff. Sky works for us for the benefits it brings. And BT works for what you have. Also another reason why we go with sky is because we have been a customer of theirs for many years so that we get great deals, and we already have sky hardware, fun fact the sky Q box acts as a range extender when connected to your Sky Broadband if you have it, that is why we have it hardwired as we get the same speeds from the router (which is far away from the box) into our living room, which is really great. Same with the sky mini Q box, if you also have that.

We didn’t buy it because sky have loyalty benefits, we phoned them because the older sky Q broadband router wasn’t doing us any good, additionally we are on sky because of how all of the products work together as a mesh network - so the router is connected to an Ethernet cable to a downstairs sky Q (video) box which emits a wifi signal that seamlessly connects, same with the Sky Q mini and all of our boosters outside and in dead spots. We’ve been happy and we’re glad we have been able to get these ~50 speeds across our entire home in a remote village on copper cables. Whatever floats your boat.

Not sure which part you are referring to but it tends to go up and down depending on the router location and amount of people using it, with our current placement of the router and booster, without many devices using it you will find over 50 speeds in the main rooms and 30 or more in corners of the house, if lots of people are using it then it’s like around 20+

We live in a very remote place on copper cables, so it is actually high speeds compared to others in the area. If you live in cities or have fibre then obviously you’ll have higher speeds.
