I think what makes them so compatable is because of the fact that the only time he smiled at the whole entire movie was with Layla. AND he protects her at that homecoming disaster- That ice girl was so out of the blue--

It would have been such a perfect ending for the movie to have those two getting together, instead of following the usual childhood friends to lovers cliché. Truly, the chemistry in their scenes was phenomenal. Glad to see such a recent edit of them. 💜 Especially with the other scenes of the actors. Not to mention, how he kept ditching her after promising to spend time with her. He didn't realize his feelings for her on his own, he was TOLD that Layla likes him and then he just started liking her out of the blue. Layla was second choice. My girl deserved better, she should've went for Warren plus he's hotter than Will anyway.

The chemistry thing is questionable, but Warren absolutely did not treat her better. He told her and her friends to F off multiple times and wouldn’t be seen with her at school. He was really only nice to her at the restaurant. Even being her date to the dance came with an ulterior motive. She was also never Will’s second choice. He didn’t begin to realize he liked her that way until the date thing made him jealous and when he saw how Gwen treated her, he dumped her on the spot and quickly got with Layla. That right there should tell you all you need to know.
