I used to watch this every Saturday morning. Back then we had real heroes. Old Sky was perfect. He couldn't act and neither could Penny, but he could fight and not lose his hat, land his plane like it was an suv, make it go from tail dragger to tricycle gear, and fight for the right. He was a pimp for the sponsors and didn't have to work or put gas in his plane. Man, what a guy. No wonder we all wanted to be sky King!!!!!

I watched this show years ago and I love the show. It was always good to be able to watch after our chores was done. My daddy loved this show too.

The scene where Penny goes to the lake look just likes the opening scene in The Andy Griffith Show where Opie is throwing a rock into the lake.!

Sky would receive a call on the Ham radio. Inform Penny, we're off again girl. Ha, ha, ha.

Sky King was originally meant to be a children’s show. A very expensive children’s show. They later changed it from a weekend to weekday show, which allowed a better budget.

I did a top overhaul on a Cessna 310 of that vintage. Amazing how there was Alia place to land near the villan 😂

I just sent for my Detecto-Microscope. They give the info at the end . Cool! I can't wait. But it does take 4-6 weeks.

My kids got theirs last week. Gee, even the box looks great. We paid one label and $10 each, 2024. My first one was disappointing, plastic lenses, plastic body. Sky King should'a asked for more money and substituted glass for plastic lenses.

I remember hearing Sky say in an earlier show that he and Penny were in the cattle business.

Derby Foods sponsored the series in first-run syndication, and a season on ABC (1953-'54) as well. In 1959, repeats {initially under Nabisco's sponsorship} were scheduled on CBS' Saturday afternoon schedule [12 Noon(et)], continuing through 1966.

+Barry I. Grauman Yes. I remember Sky King brought to you by Nabisco.I was too young for the first airing but remember the late 50's and 60's shows on late Saturday mornings (central time zone). Cartoons early and then Sky King and Roy Rogers late morning and early afternoon.

I remember the last few years of the CBS reruns, also. One of the coolest shows on TV!

I always liked this show when I was a kid, and loved that cool looking plane. Too bad it crashed after the show was off the air, killing the pilot.

Ha, ha, ha, of course it was the American West. Last I remember, they were delivering very important medications to the Australian Outback

Love generic sound effects and music The whistling wind sound effect made me think that superman was going to rescue Charlie.

Just what was Sky's source of income? Was he independently wealthy?

He never was working. I watched reruns in the 60's.

When you own the ranch, it's the hired hands who do all the work. He was a cattleman. And apparently Penny was the boss.

Did that fairly often. Ha, ha, ha.
