Dad, my brother and I met Mr. Grant at a fly-in at Hermiston, Oregon abut 1959-1960. He flew the 310 in and my dad always admired him, as he was an actual pilot in a world of Hollywod fakes. Someone in the family has the 8mm reel-ro-reel film of us with Mr. Grant next to the Songbird.

I pestered my Mom to get a box of "Rice-Chex"-because there was a plastic model plane-at the Bottom of the pack,--these thing tasted like "wet-cardboard"--I refused to eat this stuff,-& my Mom said--"I bought a large pack for you,-you little bastard,-& your gonna eat every-piece,till you get to that plane !!"--even though-that stuff gave me "Diareaha"-it took me 2 months to get to that-Plane-& two doc.bill for my Mom-!!-those were the days !!

As a kid watching back then I would have guessed he's an old 30 something. Now that I'm 80 I can see that he was an old 50 something.
