Oh ffs they accepted the millions at the time, and as for that woman why is she given so much air time is beyond me. We tried to do the right thing by buying the record now it's kicked straight back in our faces, no pleasing some people

The song was written quickly, and it's not like they thought Christmas wasn't a thing in Africa, but whether or not they realised it was Christmas, you know, with all the starving going on.........

What about the misrepresentation of British society in adverts to please the people who were allowed to come here instead of improving their countries?

Not sure how you can blame a charity song and video for subjecting people to "images of swollen bellies and flies in their eyes" when it was inter-cut news footage of something that was happening at the time. We're supposed to ignore history now because it makes people who identify as African feel bad, and that's racist? Or are you trying to say that everything's fine in Africa now, so it's irrelevant somehow? I'm really not following. If you're going to criticize charity efforts, you'd better bring receipts.

Oh come on! Let's not turn this into a racially divisive discussion, or make a problem exist where there isn't one. This whole cancel culture is ridiculous. This song is a part of our modern history, where two musicians got off their butts and did something good, while governments sat doing nothing, with genuine and good intentions, and made positive differences to thousands of people's lives. We should be lauding these guys, not getting into semantics like this. Leave it be and focus on doing something equally as productive, rather than pulling apart the authenticity of the lyrics of a song. Songwriting is a form of art. Its creativity. It's not real! Are we going to cancel/criticize Tears for Fears for saying that 'Everybody Wants to Run The World' for Sport Aid when clearly nobody was literally going to, or wanted to? No, of course not! I am not sure why Sky would even give this topic air time when there are much more newsworthy topics to debate and build awareness of.
