Sky UK EPG Background Music 2009-2011

I couldn't find this anywhere else on KZbin so I'd thought I would make this and upload it.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, on 1st January 2018. The Sky EPG music was unceremoniously switched off at 12:59am in the middle of a Christmas music track without anyone knowing or any prior announcement.
As of now, the EPG's on the old SD boxes are now slient with no music at all (some even no longer show listings from what I've heard). Sky haven't even made an announcement that they've discontinued the EPG music, even though many are unsure, we've pretty much lost the EPG music many subscribers grew up to.

Wow. I did not expect this video to be as popular as it is. It was just something I enjoyed making and thought I'd upload as at the time, this soundtrack couldn't be found on KZbin despite being the one that first sprung to my mind. I haven't visited it for a while but was nice reading the comments today. I think this video resonates with me more now as the old Sky Digi boxes and Sky+ boxes which used the EPG shown in this video are now obsolete as Sky are closing down their SD services (or reverting some of them to DVD-S2, which the old boxes can't handle). Despite not having one of the boxes in question since 2013, it's still a bit sad as it was one part of my childhood. Continue sharing your memories of the old Sky EPG here. Thank you.

I can't believe Sky would tear away so many memories like that by switching of the EPG Music for good. The old SD boxes are left hauntingly silent, as if the music never existed. The classic memory of browsing a Sky EPG has gome. Its devastating.... R.I.P. Sky EPG Music.

They've got rid of it now? My family moved over to Sky HD a few years ago (just recently cancelled Sky altogether) but Sky had started to change the music every year.

This brings back tons of memories, It’s such a shame that the EPG music is no more on the old boxes. My parents had an Amstrad box from 1998/9 when they got Sky to about 2015 when we just stuck with Freeview. I remember losing the remote and having to stand by it going through all the channels. The days of losing the viewing card so you couldn’t watch something even if you wanted to. Times have changed and even though there are more channels it’s not as good as having less channels and quality TV.

Haha this takes me back to when we first got Sky Digital installed back in January 2001. I was 18 years old then and had just started university. I’d been begging my parents to get Sky but they always said it was too expensive. At the time, Sky Digital were doing a special offer where you get free installation and a free digibox so my mum has secretly signed up for it, then she told all of us on Christmas Day that we were getting Sky. To say I was excited was a massive understatement! Cue the morning of the installation and a very excited girl jumping up and down!

Really. That's a shame if they are but I haven't heard or seen anything saying they are discontinuing this menu. Not to say your wrong but I think that they are just doing a major revamp on the EPG on all boxes (As in the Sky+HD and Sky Q). I will keep my ears open though cause Sky haven't said they are getting rid of the old menu but there again, they never announced that they'd discontinue the background music and did it overnight. If they do, I'll be just as disappointed as you and a lot of people since this menu was a part of my childhood. Thank you for your comment :)

Cocu Grimshaw I was meant to tell you earlier but got focused with work. But thankfully you were right, the original menu is still here. They just changed the numbers around on channels like various other boxes. The channels seem to be working fine, only issue is a big gap inbetween some of the sections on the tv guide.

This music was nowhere near as good as the 2002 epg music when I was 17. That was pure majic for me. By the time I upgraded from Sky+ to Sky HD in 2010, this was the music and it had lost all majic for me i'm afraid. Then when SKy HD arrived, there wasn't any epg music any more. It was just the background of the tv channel, which has its advantages of course. The epg xmas music was great too in 2002 and 2003! Eventually they stopped bothering to change it at all at xmas if my memory is correct

They actually still make EPG music and Xmas music, but last Christmas, they just re-used the Xmas soundtrack from 2015. Same with this year, they are using last year's normal EPG soundtrack. So, they must think that the music doesn't have an audience anymore, but I could be wrong. I agree, unfortunately, I was too young in 2002 to remember the EPG music but have listened to it on KZbin and it's amazing. If Sky want to repeat soundtracks of previous years, at least repeat on them from between 1998-2009, because I have seen many comments on forums saying the music nowadays is rubbish or just 'meh'. Sky Digital will be 20 years old in 2018, so it would be cool if they played all of their EPG tracks for an anniversary treat. Of course knowing Sky nowadays, that will never happen.

haha yes that would be good but there are more people interested in making money etc than being creative so it's unlikely they would bother or think of it unless there was a lot of pressure. People who are about these kind of things are usually too much of a minority for them to care about. I think one day that mentality in society will eventually change though.
