I'm 73 and I first saw these Sky Cranes in action when I was young, about 15. It's great to see them still in use for great work. I believe it was military hauling shipping containers around in Alaska for the Dew line work.

Good to hear from you Mark! I have a Contour HD. But what really makes it good is that I had it modified from an outfit in Florida called Light Sport Group that wired in the helicopter plug so I can get the ICS and radio. So you can hear the ground guy calling us in. I still have the option of a regular external mic as well. The quality of the plug is very good, much better than a standard 1/8" mini-stereo plug.

This helicopter has 3 pilot seats. Two up front and one facing the rear. We pick up and set the loads from the rear.

Does the rear facing pilot hold a full pilot licence? What are his/her controls?
@Forestryman7073 жыл бұрын
pepper669 yes I'm wondering the same thing if he has full control of the aircraft from the rear

Years ago we were staying at a cabin in Brighton Utah and woke up to hear a chopper working. I went to the parking lot where they were working. Between flights I talked to the ground men and they were the nicest guys.

Good stuff. I always wanted to find a good audio interface back in the day too (but that was with an old hand-held VHS-C camera). Again, great camera and audio both... More!

From someone who is afraid of heights, that is a nice safe view. From my cell! Are you in the drivers seat? Below? And the those below, i marveled at their trust of the helicopter operator. Amazing. Thank you for sharing.
