Skydiving Altimeters - New Smart Aon2 X2 & Dekunu One

I've jumped the Aon2 on half a dozen wingsuit jumps and it was fantastic - easy to read (I didn't need the direction back to the DZ..) I missed having it when I had to return it !

Where is the altitude at the AON2 X2 screen here and the second question is at 7:53 on the AON2 X2 screen, where is the altitude here? I can only see the distance, the glide ratio, grounding speed and something like 2.12 and 15.0. Where is here the altitude?

I have the X2, last weekend I compared it to the Dekunu, very glad I made the choice I did. Display alone is much better on the X2. Not to mention the other advantages highlighted in this video

@@taods1 you wont believe- i almost bought dekunu one as my friend bought it and she showed it to me on dz and i was amazed 4 months ago but then i decided to wait and guess what- 3 days ago i met another skydiver and wingsuit pilot and he said - YOU WANT X2 and you will never buy other alti ever, im saving money for one now, here in uk they want £480. Im so glad i didint spend 400 on dekunu😁

It's a bump over the usual altimeters but they will always improve in time which makes them even more attractive, even for the price. But I hear you. ;)

🐈, I have the Dekunu and for the most part it’s alright. It does need some work and is glitchy from time to time. The freefall times and data recorded is waaaaayyy off on the Dekunu. Once it’s uploaded to the cloud, the algorithms on the cloud fix the times and make it more accurate. I think it can be great, but needs some work right now.

​@@stopspinskydiving I heard that on the Dukunu, the device is having trouble detecting de beginning of the free fall. That sometimes when the plane start to lose altitude, it shows that the freefall had started. Is that true?

Leandro Fraga I’ve noticed mine will switch to free fall mode if the aircraft slows for a hop and pop. It goes back to climb mode after it detects the airplane climbing again.

270 hours of storage time, assuming freefall to canopy ratio is 1/4, is more like 4200 jumps :)

I am a bit confused about Dekunu's excluded user rules. How do they know I am an uncurrent jumper for example? Can they turn it off remotely? Or is it just a clause in case of any litigations?

They told me that they finally have settings for new skydivers. It avoid overloading them with data. You need to be registered as a Dekunu user and your data goes to their cloud so they do have some sort of control.

I have been jumping the X2 and me and all the people I know love it. I can't talk much about the Dekunu but some people love it but I also heard that some decided to get back to a standard one. The customer service at Aon2 is stellar! Where do you live and what do you want to do with it? I carry it on my brand new gear store too. ;)

@@SkydiveVibes whats your gear store? ive been leaning toward the x2.. the reviews that ive read seem to lean toward the x2 as well. im going from a broken viso 2 to the aon x2. do you have them in stock on your store? i messaged them on insta and they said they would be ready to ship in 2 weeks. i really like the information that it gives and that its easily readable in the sunlight and is color coded. i think the colors will help me. ( i only have 50 jumps ) so im new..

@@LifewithMiles since they are doing another batch in 2 weeks that is the perfect timing. We don't have them in stock. As a starting jumper you'll find that it has a lot of info. Make sure not to get confuse by them. And you need to charge it before everyday of jumping. ;) Right now I ship in Can & USA. Where are you based?

I wish the video had actual altimeters. I own Dekunu and it's not bad. Bulky, battery is not that great, but reliable enough.At least, Dekunu is in people's hands. Aon X2 not so much. Dekunu is not even water resistant, because USB port is not sealed. You need to plug a rubber plug in, that you will lose the moment you take it out. Dekunu casing is also not the greatest, and easy to crack open without even any tools. Easy to fix in the field but will die in the water.

Unless you are going to be their ambassador (kinda sponsored) then no, you are not getting a review unit, unfortunately. They gave some engineering samples to ambassadors, that's about it. Dekunu likes to release units in batches. Watch their facebook and twitter pages for release announcements.

The Dekunu is a good value compared to the the Alti-2 Atlas Visual/Audible altimeter at $399USD but i've seen it's battery only last a day of jumping.

This is an extension of my question related to your jumpsuit video I was watching this video right here, to know more about both altimeters your mentioned here (this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqC7kn-ZbdiYgdE), and its amazing how the dekunu one keeps track of everything and can show later on a computer screen including the track made. So i would be really cool to have this data collected by the dekunu when jumping with different suits and compare the speed differences!
