Looks like a great camper. I can’t wait to see the 21’ model with the triple bunks. I have yet to see a good US model that has triple bunks for a family of 5.

Look forward to seeing the different sizes and models on show in Australia.

You’re absolutely right! So many products even here in the US are simply engineered by people who don’t go camping… Have never been Overlanding… And don’t know the first thing about off grid living.

Ok…I was waiting for $120K, so glad it’s not priced outside the stratosphere. If this trailer is truly well built, that is a pretty good value (considering our Patriot X3 is close to that price).

Yeah, we’re planning to post more videos once we see the production models

Vapor ware?

Definitely not-the manufacturer built and sold a highly successful off-road trailer manufacturing business in Australia before starting this new venture. I’m sure it’ll take some time to scale up in the US, but keep an eye out for

what makes this any different than MDC, OBI, etc? at that price it is almost certainly coming from the same factory in china. So what differentiates this in particular and Skye in general? Yes its a rude question, but I think it needs asking. It happens time and time again. RV/trailer/camper over-promises, under-delivers and the consumer is left to sort out the defects. Or the company simply closes up leaving the consumer and possibly the dealer to figure it out.

Hey Michael, very fair question. I can only speak anecdotally about most of the other campers made in China, but most brands made in China are a white label and exported to the global marketplace. They don’t have the experience and thought leadership in the camping industry to understand the use and dynamics that an experienced customer expects. Darren is the founder, and comes from this industry in Australia. His goal is to bring that thought leadership in manufacturing and fabrication to delivering a product that can be exported without the huge price tag of sourcing from Australia directly. He and his team designed the product, and have overseen every step in the production configuration, with a very specific emphasis on quality. The choices being made in materials, fabrication techniques, and structural design all come from an experience in the industry that is more than just making trailers. Sorry, I didn’t mean for this to turn into an essay. But I can relate to your concerns about those other products. I can only say that the preproduction model that I walked through here represents a different type of trailer, starting with how it was designed.

@@OctoberWild thank you. this is the sort of thing that practically demands an essay! :) To be clear I dont think that "from china" means its automatically bad. This is especially true if you compare with the vast majority of product that comes out of Elkhart. It sounds like Darren is on the right track - relentless QC making the lower costs in overseas sourcing viable.
