It never fails in my opinion, that a great Bond movie is great and exceptional whoever plays him. But believe me when I say Bond success is only surpassed by the villain he encounters

Same!!!! 😭 He’s so relatable! Silva is more relatable than Bond! God bless Javier Bardem for portraying him! Javier gave Tiago life and he did a perfect job! 🥹🙌🏼

This. This is the reason I come back to Skyfall, despite all the plotholes. Silva is a compelling villian.

Absolutely! They did the "Evil" agent trope right.

@@DooleyTheDirectorwhy’d you put evil in quotes if you don’t mind me asking?
@DooleyTheDirector7 ай бұрын
@@joaoalves9330 “Evil” as in the modern retelling of the villain story. A lot of popular movies have recontextualized their villains to fit a more modern style of storytelling. Point would be the maleficent movie with Angelina Jolie, the villain is no longer evil just because, she has a backstory and the writing takes her away from being purely “evil” to something else. In the same sense instead of having just an evil 007 clone, we have an agent who has a complex and understandable backstory for why he betrayed M and is wanting revenge, if that makes sense

@@DooleyTheDirector Ah I see. To be fair though I don’t think a character having a reason to be evil makes them not evil. No one is evil (or good) just because, everyone has something which drives them. Back in the day we just weren’t told what drove villains’ actions I’m sure the original maleficent had a reason to be a villain too the story just didn’t focus in on that (thus making her look like she’s evil because). I don’t know just food for thought I guess (Le Chiffre is pretty close to the original maleficent in the sense that he too seems evil just because but that’s only because we don’t know what drove him to become a part of the international crime business).

I personally believe Silva and Ledger's joker are the best villains. Their so complex yet just the right amount of simple to understand. "He was a brilliant agent" ~M "Some men, just want to watch the world burn" ~Alfred they even both have a single line from another old timing legendary character from their series (batman and james bond) and to top it off, the reason the films such as Skyfall and TDK made such a huge box office hit was because of how amazing their performance was, (Heath and Bardem) and how brilliant and amazing their version of these characters where brought to the table.

Being a brilliant agent doesn't make one an invincible, omni- and prescient genius.

Got to add "No Country For Old Men" to the list. Bardem really steals the show in both NCFOM, and Skyfall.

Both Joker and Silva have won, killing their targets. Harvey and M respectively.

Sorry, Silva was a cartoon. He was way over the top - knew everything and planned everything better than any expert in the field, with a health that made "Jaws" look like a puny whimp, and resources against which Goldfinger and Blofeld looked like paupers and wannabes. Motivations are but a part of writing a character.
