Want to know a Skylander tragedy I had? Before Toy's R Us' closed, me and my family went there for the last time. Skylanders were only 1$ and we got like 3-4. But then my mom said that it wasn't worth it, despite the fact that my dad didn't see a problem (he took us one time to TRU and we came home with Freeze, Rise, Rouser and Terrafin or Slobber Tooth) and instead we got a 200$ flimsy trampoline that could only hold 2 people and only can be used half the year and just feel over into someone else's fence one Christmas

Soft paw actually is in 3 levels, he is in swap force at kaos fortress, the land of the dead, and the rat kingdom, My favorite npc probably is Gurglefin or Arbo to be honest

Let’s be real, it was probably for the best that they experimented with npcs a lot in the early games. It paid off in the long run because they had a large selection of characters to choose from to make the best experience.

Hey what about the shop keeper guy in SSA & Giants? In Giants he has a pretty big function, his shop is not only on the ship but also scattered around different levels and you basically have to buy from him if you want all challenges & hats plus he has healing, shielding and skipping items (for skystones & lock puzzles)

I prefer every new replacement for NPCs in swap force except for rufus who is supposed to be the copy of Hugo. Also, hot take, hippo people > persephone. :O

Although Swap Force was a massive step down from Giants, I actually prefer the NPCs in that game overall. Sure Cali being replaced with Tessa was a big nope, but Sharpfin was great and his banter with Flynn was just the best. Avril's Scottish accent alone made her great and Snagglescale's line 'about as much use as a catfish on a bicycle' is possibly the best line in the history of the series (and I loved that clip where he kept nattering on lol). While the fairy magic upgrade aesthetic was a lot better than the pods, I preferred Gorm as a character (especially compared to Persephone in SA, her speech in that game was so cringey). However, Auric was so likable and much better than Tuk. And yeah Rufus was annoying as piss, Eon was the real one and I don't remember much about SA but Hugo was fine too.

great video! but when you say that npcs are needed to explain the basic functions of the game, this is wrong. it's basic game design that the most fun way to learn how to play a game is to give the player light hints in the environment to figure out by themselves. it gives a feeling of reward because you weren't told exactly what to do. games like portal and little nightmares achieve this amazingly, and it helps the progression SIGNIFICANTLY. keep up the good work! just try not to make blanket statements like this. :))

SSA is the best game to start on, it has the main origin story, has the most levels, and the classic skylanders. Giants has imo some of the best gameplay and levels in the series and some memorable characters. Swap force has a few long levels and doesn’t really feel like a skylanders game IMO but does have jumping and a really good gimmick Trap team has a really fun gimmick and a great story and great characters but has a few glitches Supercharger is fun but a bit lack luster in the vehicle sections and an incredible story And finally imaginators has a very boring story but great skylanders and a short story too

Spyros' Adventure has the best simplicity. Giants has the best minigames. Swap Force has the best story Trap Tram has the best boss fights and is the best overall IMO SuperChargers has the best level design Imaginators has the best gimmick Note: this is in my opinion Depends on what you look for

Again, none of the 3DS exclusive NPCs aren't included. Though Flynn, Hugo, Cali, Persephone (only in Swap Force) and Pandergast (only in Superchargers: Racing) do appear in Skylanders 3DS games.
