While RiRi is AMAZING, very few people know the truth behind this song and the first version. Look up Skylar Grey 🖤 “Love the Way You Lie" and "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)" were based on a demo written and recorded in late 2009 by Grey. Grey said "I wrote the demo initially for myself because I thought, 'Oh, I have this big song, and now I have a little bit of a launching pad to put out my own stuff." Grey continued to discuss how the song was ultimately included on Loud, saying "As soon as Rihanna and her team heard my demo, they were like, 'Oh we want it for Rihanna's album,' so I had to make the decision if I was going to let them have it or not. But I did and so it was on Rihanna's album, too." The demo track by Grey, titled "Love the Way You Lie (Part III)", is on her extended play The Buried Sessions of Skylar Grey, which was released on January 17, 2012.

I've been listening to this song almost everyday. For me, this is not just a song, but a story, a scream, and a cry. I understood her from the words of the song but i felt it through her voice and it brought comfort. She becomes more beautiful every time she sings. You can feel her passion in every word she sings in this beautiful song. Her tattoo's are not just for art, but an expression and a message of what she feels but is misunderstood. She wants to express herself and be appreciated for her faithfulness to her craft. I have been there, but in a way, as i was getting older and more mature, i accepted that the world is "unfair" and by the end of the day, you dont really need somebody or someone. You need to love yourself first and give it to others without conditions. I treated my craft like my children, i will give it all the love that i can give and wouldnt really expect anything in return. Thank you for a very beautiful song. In a way, i gave up my love for writing a long time ago and forgot to express myself through words in exchange for a more stable livelihood. One thing i understand in this lifetime though, what made humanity survive, be stronger, and prosper is because of the narratives and the story and songs that keep us inspired and hopeful. *my apologies for some wrong grammar, english is not my first language.

@@gmandersonjr That’s definitely something you can honestly relate to then - it must have been difficult, and sad 😢 to see what you did. And, yes, it can usually be seen/heard in someone’s voice when they’ve been thru some type of emotional trauma or pain - but it’s also rather sad in a way that it’s one of the reasons WHY they are so good. Take Eric Clapton for example - losing his young son from falling to his death out of a window in a NYC high rise apartment. I think this had a large influence on some of his 🎤 🎸 playing AFTER this happened. Many others were on drugs and then got clean (Beth Hart for one), abused alcohol, after which they too performed differently than before. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s seems much more apparent when these people are songwriters and/or vocalists vs only instrumentalists 🤔.

Lovely ❤ It goes to show that it doesn’t require an entire band, multiple instruments, singers, or any other ‘pomp and circumstance’ to make a video/song sound great! Just a single person who sings and plays the piano 🎹 like she is doing here says it all imo!

Yeah, but were is the drummer?!
@elainemeyer5062 Жыл бұрын
@@martijnfranssen5794 Since I wrote this comment 1/2 year ago, I have to listen/watch it again closely before I can honestly answer ur drummer 🥁 question. In my initial comment I was referring to the overall impression I had, and felt, about her w/o a lot of other people ‘hiding’ her voice by backing her up, like so many other artists. It was the vocal purity and talent of of her singing + being able to hear HER in a ‘simple’, not lavishly done performance. THEN I can reply to u better! 😉
@martijnfranssen5794 Жыл бұрын
@@elainemeyer5062 it was just a joke. I like this performance very much. Her voice is great… but as a drummer I made a joke about the part not requiring a band 🤣

@@martijnfranssen5794 Oh, my mistake - I thought u meant there really was a drummer 🥁 in the video background that I didn’t see. Got it now 😉
