When this mix released, i used to be crazy about it. picture a 13 year old kid in 8th grade having to study because of bad grades, but in this case i hated studying, lol. Your mixes (MAINLY this one) gave me the push to pass 8th grade and gave me a moody vibe always, and also introduced me to lofi music. Now i am already in college, was studying last night with my girlfriend and remembered, almost like a fever dream, this mix. When i clicked play suddenly i was the same kid, with no big worries in life and just chilling hearing lo-fi beats in my room. Eternally greatful. Two years ago I quit my job at a bank and moved to LA to find work in marketing. On Tuesday nights, I used to walk down Santa Monica Blvd to the laundromat and listen to this mix. I had a full-time freelance gig over the summer and was just on the doorstep of landing a permanent role that would let me stay in LA. But even though my goal was right in front of me, it never worked out in my favor. I went home feeling like a failure. Two years later, I am writing this at 4 AM on a Friday morning from a balcony 25 floors up overlooking downtown Miami. And this mix that I once listened to full of misguided hope is now one that enjoy as a victory lap. If there’s something in your life you want to achieve, never stop pursuing it. Even when it slips out of your grasp when it’s right in front of you, it might find your way back to you sooner than you think. Work hard, remain committed to honesty, and you will find your way. Then you can come back to the music you used to listen to during the grind and celebrate too.
