I, like most comments, wrote this release off initially due to the missing seconds hand. A week later, I've actually fallen in love with his watch, so much so I'll scrap the plan of buying the defy classic as a result. Yes, it would have been better with a second hand, but the Skyline has so many more positives/ upgrades for me compared to the Defy Classic: - angular case shape which I adore - the detailing on the dial is phenomenal, matching colour for the date window, the star pattern design - steel bracelet, I prefer the weight - the quick strap swap mechanism - upgraded movement and 60 hours power reserve. I could not give this all up for the sake of a second hand. I also do not plan my day to the second ;-) Now, just need to decide between the white dial and black dial. Well done Zenith, thanks for bringing something refreshing, exciting to the line up. Cheers!

I have to say I am a big fan of Zenith but i think the design will look much sophisticated and nicer in a smaller and thinner case. Understood that Defy line is always targeting for the user who prefer chunky watches. But, would be perfect if the team can launch another smaller size version and remove the 1/10 seconds.

I don’t like what Zenith is doing, I absolutely love it. Their attention to ergonomics and wearability is something other brands need to take note of. I own a ChronoMaster sport and it has absolutely sold me on Zenith being an incredible brand and representing a great value in their class. They punch well above their weight.

Just bought the defy skyline over the santos. It looked magical and hit all the right marks for me personally. It looks amazing, has both bracelet and rubber bands and i love the 10s which presents the 5hz movement in a very unique way.

It is a beautiful blue dial with an interesting pattern, but looking at a subdial running at 1/10 sec will drive some folks away from this watch. It is running too fast.

I’m a huge Zenith fan and I think they’re very underrated. Love the current Defy line - 21, Extreme, basic 3-hand. So it brings me great pain to say I don’t like any of these watches. The revival is hideous, maybe better in person but I have no interest. And this new skyline, I appreciate what they did with the dial. Very going after Royal Oak while still having a dial design that’s unique to Zenith, I can appreciate that, but there’s no need at all to have a 1/10th second counter, and totally forgoing a regular second hand. 1/10th second is cool but leave that for the chronos. So out of place on this watch. And just such a random placement of 3 o’clock date and 9 o’clock 1/10th counter. The new “octogon” or whatever shape it is on the bezel, eh I could take it or leave it. I don’t particularly love it and there was nothing wrong with the old circle bezel. I always touted the Defy line and being underrated and under appreciated, so I’m really disappointed to not have anything nice to say about these. I really wanted to like them but aside from the new dial design - which the old blue dial and skeleton dials were both beautiful to begin with - there’s nothing here for me in any of these new releases

the skyline is beautiful, i just wish 41mm watched weren't the trend now, a 37-39 would look so much better >: ( seeing the case back I'm sure there is enough room for a smaller diameter however love the swappable strap - thank you vacheron Constantin for such a good idea ! glad to see more companies start including it what really bothered me with the defy classic was the fact that it was soooo weightless - titanium kind of made it feel cheap so the fact that this one comes in steel is super nice

Such a shame. I love the case design and dial, but the useless 1/10th second counter ruins it for me. I’m not even put-off by the seemingly large 41mm size, as the lug to lug seems to be more than reasonable. That seconds counter kills it for me, though. Replace that with a simple three-hand, and I’ll be placing an order with my AD.

I like the look of the Skyline. It's a little different which is nice in a sea of sameness. The removable strap system is nice to see as well and it's cool that you get both straps. I think the contrast stitching on that white Defy 21 looks cheap. Contrast stitching never looks good on light colors in my opinion.

I own a Defy Classic Skeleton on Ti bracelet, and these all feel like a downgrade! Pointless second hand, thicker, steel... the dial looks great and the quick change strap system (ala the VC Overseas) is a decent improvement, but otherwise this is a backwards step.

Personally I really like them. Yes it gives off a Royal Oak vide but let’s be honest most people can’t buy a Royal Oak even if they have the money as the waiting lists are just unacceptable. This is a great, more affordable and much more attainable alternative that still has its unique Zenith touches. I see nothing wrong with that. Well done Zenith.

That Skyline might replace the VC Overseas sport as my favorite 3 hander. The limited edition is really sweet. Let me see: I can get 2 of these for the price of a used Submariner. I'll take the 2 Omega watches and buy an $80 Invicta if I get the itch(not likely) for a ridiculously over rated diver. Omega has a golden opportunity for new fans that don't want to wait 3 years for a Rolex. The Chronomaster sport makes the Daytona look so outdated.

Which Zenith Defy model will watch collectors be going for in 2022? Not sure if I prefer the new or classic reissue series. The logo on the glass, however, looks like a decal. It would be better if the logo were etched into the glass.

The new strap system is a great improvement but beside that i prefer the slick look of the Defy Classic and also that is made of Titanium so this is not for me but im sure some people will enjoy it. A other thing is that huge watch are most of the time to big for most humans here i really dont get the BIG watch trend.... 38 to 40mm is the sweet spot for most watches to be well balance between presence and elegance.

I like it, but too big and I'm not sold on the dial pattern which seems flat to me. Screw down crown and quick change bracelet are good improvements 👍

As much as I like Zenith watches,already call a couple of them my own, the new Defy Skyline is a complete utter failure: What is the purpose of a three-hands watch if you cannot tell the time accurately, despite on of the hands counting the 10th of a second?! One can only guess if it is 09:45:10 or 09:45:20 etc... As others already mentioned, this watch needs a proper central seconds hand, so you can read the time at a glance!

I dont know? , in my opionion, it doesnt have any sense to put a 5hz on a non chrono watch. That little thing running like crazy is annoying. It doesnt make any sense , non in funcionality, nor from aesthetic perspective. In my opionion ruins what could have been a flawless sports Watch (under 10k ). Why not just upgrade the power reserve from the previous defy clasic ?

The new Defy Skyline is 11.6mm thick, whereas the Defy Classic 10,75mm. The difference is less than 1mm, but it is a difference nonetheless.

I am a owner of the Defy Classic skeleton in Titanium case. They had the perfect watch there, that just needed a couple of dial iterations and the mechanism to quicly change strap, nothing else. They already increased its price last year, but ok it was still competitive. Now they come up with this nonsense in steel priced 1000CHF-1500CHF more than the defy classic. Note here how many times they mention octagon...guess why. The launch of the Defy Midnight already showed where the brand was going with their price practices, so this year they add 2 new dials (horrorible btw) and voilà 500CHF more expensive! And how about the continuous limited edition/boutique edition/online edition just aimed at taking the profit off the ADs and sell at full price?? Notice how this company increases prices at each novelty introduction. I used to be a fun of the brand, now just ashamed for what they are doing and feeling the love for my Defy vanishing. I bet in the long term potential customers will not be fooled when having to decided among Omega, IWC, Zenith. Oh don’t try to publicly criticize them, they sistematically remove unfavorable comments and eventually bann you 😂

I'm not sure what your complaint is. Prices go up over time and brands keep products fresh between big redesigns by putting out dial variations. That shouldn't keep you from enjoying your Defy Classic, which is a great watch with interesting materials and a distinct movement.

@@NA-oo4ls prices are going up every single year much faster than inflation and middle class salaries. I would have no complaint if a manufacturer adds value for the customer that justifies higher prices than in the past. You can’t just reposition the brand without offering anything more to you customers. All brands are increasing prices but Zenith is trying very hard to follow the paths of Rolex (& co.) by increasing prices adding zero value in exchange. It’s a pity because enthusiasts who are annoyed by the practices of Rolex are moving to other brands and Zenith was meant to be one of them. To me, not anymore.

I don't think this one would be successful. It's because the design forgets the original function of a watch. As the second hand dial is not of 60 seconds, how can I read the accurate time? Moreover, the second hand runs too fast, and it would be very tired to read the watch. The bezel design is good. I would urge the company to change the second hand dial back to the normal one.

The 1/10th second dial is pointless and I cant stop looking at it, its distracting whizzing round. The case size is too big, it doesnt look balanced when looking at the watch head to strap. The polished centre links are a nice touch on the ladies watch but missing on the mens. I had this in the basket on Zeniths website but cant pull the trigger on it, close but no cigar.............

I really like what Zenith has release lately. I'm a proud owner of a Zenith Defy Classic Skeleton in black ceramic and I totally love it. But I think these are... meh :-( They're finally back with those hideous designs... I mean I totally understand what they are trying to do but it just doesn't work for me. And I think it won't for many others. Zenith is a power house with lots of history, but especially in the last 30 years they're constantly struggling to build a strong design DNA. Instead, they're often coming up with completely different designs that are sometimes really interesting and unique, but sometimes also just hideous. And I think exactly this is the main issue with the brand since a long time - you don't have those long-running collections that represent the brand at a glance. Imho they should be more subtle with their changes to achieve this.

I like the skyline, but they took a lot of the good things away the classic had, such as: - titanium - skeleton - folding clasp (i mean come on zenith, a pin buckle?! that just looks super cheap) So i am VERY disappointed that they aim to replace the iconic defy classic with this☹️

Yes i‘ve seen it too now, but it still _looks_ like a pin buckle and it basically is one, just with an added quick mechanism that is a folding clasp. It doesn‘t have that nice inside size adjusting mechanism hublot has and the former defy models have. Even tag heuer have a nicer adjusting mechanism, though not as refined as hublot and former defy. So i dont see this as "upgrade". Also steel is not an "upgrade" since titanium is lighter, harder, to a certain degree "self healing" (oxide layer) and 100% non corrosive. There‘s a reason why hublot almost exclusively use titanium as well as rm do, since these are the "high end" watches from a technical perspective. Zenith with their rich history of technological (movement) superiority should go that path too. Ap and patek sports watches are steel out of tradition, they originated in the 70s where titanium was not yet a thing. The movement might be an upgrade but i dont see the point. 5hz makes sense in a chrono, but i‘m pretty sure the human eye cant distinguish 4hz and 5hz, especially not in a small subdial. The skeletonized elite just was much more unique and outstanding. Also the case looks too bulky in my opinion. The most successful modern sports watches (e.g. ro jumbo) is very thin. This is much more bulky than ro, nautilus and also defy classic. It might be hard fitting that under a shirt sleeve except if you‘re wearing a tent. So in conclusion i dont want to roast the skyline here, as ive said its a nice watch, but in the whole context that they want to replace the classic with it i think it is very disappointing and genuinely made me sad. Its almost disrespectful to their own brand, because it was the 2017 defy line, beginning with the defy 21 that finally aligned the stars and brought zenith back on the map, in fact made it more amazing than ever. They always had the best movements but they made a lot of design mistakes (e.g. old defy line before 2017). I feel like and fear they are going along this path once again. ☹️

They do love money, look at their price practices. In the long run I doubt they will fool many people. There is no way to justify Zenith prices, if you hold an Omega and compare few pieces. IWC is also better value for money.

Zenith on the other hand has won thousands of awards for their movements and never in their history has used non in house. I am curious if they‘ll release a skeleton version of the skyline, maybe that will save this otherwise rather meh watch. Still really dont see the reason for this 10s hand, u would not be able to distinguish the motion even if it was 4hz. Just seems super gimmicky to me
