This double out and back wooden coaster isn't as old as many think it is. It opened in 1960 and operated until 1985 at Roseland Park in Upstate New York before being relocated to Pennsylvania in 1987.
Lakemont Park is located in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
This is the exact same video as the Skyliner 3D video we posted for those that cannot view the 3D version on their phone or tablet. Here is the link to the 3D video we posted: • Skyliner 3D front seat...

@@edwardmcdevitt790 In sections and a lot more of the ride is replaced than most people realize. In most cases, a good majority of the supports are built brand-new, it's the track and rails themselves that are the important bits parks want to keep intact.

Went on this yesterday, it's a really good ride no matter what seat you choose. The back gives you some good air on the drops while the front gives you a really crazy ejector moment going up the hill after the first drop. Lots of fun.

When this was loacated at Roseland Park on Canandaigua Lake, it was my first proper coaster ride ever with my father, RIP. I had been on carnival baby coasters but this was the real deal and I have been in love with woodies ever since! Thank goodness it was relocated and I heard that Roseland is being resurrected as a water park at least for now.

This camera doesn't really give this coaster justice. I was just on it yesterday, and when you go down that first drop in the front seat, it makes you feel alive and also feel like you're about to crap yourself. The shakiness is real on this one.

Me to. I was there every Saturday 12 - 10 1971 to 1976. last time on it was 2nd to last ride Sept 2 1985. :( Great hang time at the end of the first hill . Roseland also had the best bumper cars I've ever have been in. Especially the old ones that later became flower pots around the park.

@PlancoandChill
@PlancoandChill 5 жыл бұрын
Sadly the park did eventually close. They are in the process of completely refreshing every aspect of it and it should re open this year. I agree though every video I have seen so far is all things that need paint, empty grass lots that need a ride or a building, and very few people.
@sportsygirl8
@sportsygirl8 4 жыл бұрын
The park is maintained fair, it's a bit on the crude side, but you can still manage to have fun if you look past the parts that looked rundown. They refurbished the place and turned it into a community park so Skyliner and Leap the Dips are still there, but the rest of the rides are gone.

This coaster after riding and seeing this video, there is a lot of wasted track footage. Just like Cedar Point's Blue Streak, there are too many "Flat" parts along the ride. If they want better ride volume, they could get that with just a few Profile changes. Turn those areas into "Bunny" hills or, better yet, double-downs! Imagine the airtime you could get from a simple change in reprofiling the track? Does anybody out in coaster land agree?? If so, like and comment. I would love to see responses from fellow enthusiasts!!! Thanks for allowing me to comment!

Um...why does the description say this is the exact same as leap the dips 3D? They are different coasters
@coasterforce
@coasterforce 9 жыл бұрын
ItsSplit It doesn't. This one says it's an out and back coaster and that it isn't as old as you might think, while the other video says it's a side friction coaster and the oldest coaster in the world. You need to read the entire description and not just the beginning where we explain that the videos are the same as the 3D videos of each coaster.

Ah, good ol' classic woodie! Wasn't this one at Rose-something-or-other first? That long gone park? And also, uk the folk lore about this coaster? It's said that there was a dog that once loved to run by the coaster and chase the trains. When the dog died, they buried it at it's favorite place to be: at the coaster. I'll see if I can spot the gravestone in this POV. I know this story to be true, as the park owner has confirmed it.

The dog, a large standard poodle that was owned by one of Lakemont Park's maintenance men, not only loved to run by the coaster, it also loved to RIDE the coaster. TV stations in the Altoona area soon heard about the coaster loving poodle. They took videos of the dog riding the coaster, accompanied by its owner, and broadcast the videos on TV. The dog would sit on a seat, put its front paws on the lap bar, and his ears would fly in the breeze. The owner went along to make sure the dog didn't get tossed out.
