On his 3rd flight with the Skymaster F14 my friend Amir performed the wing sweep operation. He had a text book flight with controlled maneuvers and aerobatics. Please enjoy this video filmed at Floyd Bennett Field.

Growing up in San diego i really miss the good old days of seeing those tomcats flying in formation. I wish i could go back for just a moment. This just makes my heart feel good. Beautiful plane.

OK this is outstanding- it even SOUNDS real- and when it takes off and lands, and during flight, seems incredibly balanced and the correct weight based on the scale.... This is the best and most realistic RC model I have... EVER SEEN OR HEARD.

What's wrong with the landing gear? Does it not go up into the fuselage? There is a guy on KZbin that builds these things. And wow they are amazing like this one. I think right now he is building a Warthog. I was in the Marines so I do know a little about these aircraft.

What is the price for something like this?
@DrewMarold8 ай бұрын
After seeing another video about this plane I looked on Skymaster's website. Just the plane, unpainted is $5995, painted versions in various liveries run $6895. From what I can tell, the realistic cockpit, swing-wing mechanism, and other things are all extras, and add upwards of another $2k, plus however much the engines cost. It also requires a pretty hefty transmitter to control all the different functions.

Is there much elevator trim needed when sweeping the wings in flight
@funtimewithsaharandkourosh85598 ай бұрын
It requires some trim on both elevator and aileron. A flight mode was created for the swept wing condition. In that condition, deflection was reduced by 20% on both elevator and aileron and expo was increased by 20%.
@russcole56858 ай бұрын
@@funtimewithsaharandkourosh8559 yup, 😊👍 I was thinking less throw would be needed for the controls surfaces. I was thinking with my original question about elevator trim, as CoG would shift rearwards as sweep moves, or is this counteracted with the CoL "centre of lift" also moving rearwards.
@funtimewithsaharandkourosh85598 ай бұрын
There is a shift, the elevator trim helps as in this case, it started climbing.
@russcole56858 ай бұрын
@@funtimewithsaharandkourosh8559 oh wow. Down trim needed. Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. Mines nothing of this size or scale, 1/12 F111g self built foamy. A little worried about not knowing what to expect. Thanks for the heads up. And Hello from New Zealand
