There is a S.Korean movie called A Taxi Driver 2017 which depicts the 1980 riots in Gwangju S.Korea. Protesters were fired upon and around 600 people were killed although estimate are said to be more. Maybe one thousand died. Civilians who fought to build a democracy for their country were falsely accused by authorities as "communist sympathizers and rioters," This led to a decade of revolution in South Korea, and eventually led to a transition from military rule to democracy.
