As a Korean I can confirm he has no f**king clue about whatever has happened here in the last 48 hours. The news crew could have made a video call with a random South Korean college student who speaks fluent English and that rando would explain things better than a hundred of those clowns. He shouldn't have opened up a map of entire East Asia from the start; he should have opened up the RoK's Constutution translated in English.

President Yoon, is currently in quite unfavorable political situation. Suspected corruption of himself and his party for instance, has led him to extreme position. Analystists suspect that, he might have thought that by overunning the parliament and the opposing party, he would gain his political power. And that led to an extreme decision, to declare martial law and invade the parliament.

The PM only has one third of seats, the opposition has two thirds, he cannot get anything passed through Parliament. He and his wife are accused of corruption and rigging the stock market. His approval rating has tanked to around 10 - 13%. To regain control, protect his wife and pass a budget unobstructed, he had a meltdown, started screaming the commies are coming and imposed martial law. The man is utterly unhinged.

I know someone who is in Seoul right now and been told that the Martial law was lifted a few hours later. The President was involved in some scandals and People over there think he called for Martial law because as long as its implemented the media is not allowed to report..

Since this is on KZbin and we may not be getting earlier updates on the situation in North Korea in the short video, I would recommend a 1-2 minute summary of the turmoil in S. Korea before going into the implications.
