The C-47 Dakota, part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, performs a flypast over Bedford Crematorium on the day of Captain Sir Tom Moore's funeral.
A firing party of 14 soldiers then fired three rounds in unison, the highest salute possible to any member of the armed forces.
Six soldiers from the Yorkshire Regiment carried Captain Sir Tom's coffin out of the hearse.

Sadly its already been lost. As the more recent generation havent been through wars, it has a built a short termist and selfish mindset amongst individuals who only think of themselves. Our society is more about "me, me, me" rather than a "community" hence why this pandemic is still around and some of the appalling things ppl have done during it.

I think he was used a bit to get people all nationalist and to think of the NHS as a charity. When Tories have plans on making the rest of the world hate Britain for reasons only a few rich people will gain from, they get somebody from WWII to promote. Forgetting Germany was better off for losing the wars, as it helped get rid of their upper classes. Now Germany have politicians who work for most people and society. Tories did the opposite of Germany in the 80s, when Tories made millions unemployed, treated the unemployed like dirt if they didn't want to take the only shelf stacking jobs in their area and then left us an economy closely linked with New York banks encouraging greed and debt, so our economy crashed by the early 90s and every few years since when many can't pay back the debts they're encouraged to live on. Germany encourage well paid employment in good conditions, and don't go to war with the workers over their conditions. They also have free university education. As an English person I'm jealous Scotland can have another vote to leave the UK and become a separate nation in the EU, so they can become like the rest of north Europe with politicians who work for most people and society. Devolution has already allowed Scotland to counteract Tory policies, so their students aren't £50,000 in debt at the start of their life, like in England.

@@disobeytoday4685 point is that the US isn't free. While I think Washington was probably one of the best presidents and some of his talking points are still relevant today (he warned against political parties), he unfortunately allowed slavery. While it was seen as acceptable then, the slave population still wasn't free, showing true freedom has never really been a thing for everyone in the US.

Well said , my grandfather served as a navigator on a bomber, got blown to hell in 1942 as did his pals he served with,, my great grandfather was murdered on the Somme serving in the Horse Artillery as he was a carter in civilian life. as with both of their demise, No bells, no whistles just sent home in a box as were their medals if any, all given posthumously. those blokes were the real heroes.

All this man did was survive, with his or other regiment comrades who had also survived the shocking effects of world war two, and the missions they were put under as l feel that war had lived amongst them everyday God sends us and had been tough also hard to bear the fruits of society again due to what they our VETERANS had witnessed and seen. A true warrior, gives praise to fallen and his comrades than ask for seld praise to him self. I'm sure, Captain Tom didn't ask or want all this but in return would want every other member of armed forces that served in war with him or amongst him to be remembered same way none different as he was. There fore, l will say rest in peace Captain Tom only out of respect for this man own dignity, because this dreadful media had over portrayed him as only one in world war two and forgotten about his comrades.
