The WA state election is set by law for 8th March 2025. Premier Roger Cook is wanting to move the date and is getting legal advice about moving the date. Why? . It can’t be earlier because 3rd March is a WA Labor Day weekend public holiday. The Federal budget is set to 25th March. So a date for an election before that date is likely. How about after. 1st April is RBA meeting date. So they wouldn’t wan to risk a rate rise before an election. Good Friday is 18th April. No way an election happens in Easter. So last 2 weeks end of April is no go. Labor Day public holiday weekend in Queensland is May 5. That would push the election into middle of May. My guess is March 8 will be the Federal Election date.
