FRENCH INFERNO: Riots blaze through France as experts blame failed immigration policies

Riots have blazed through Paris, Marseille and Lyon, after police fatally shot 17-year-old Nahel Merzouk.
The violence comes as France reaches a tipping point after an influx of migrants over recent years.

As a German I can confirm it is all true. In Germany it is not as bad as in France yet, but we are on the same way. Since the refugee crises in 2015, there came about 1 million Syrians to Germany and they are still coming. After they are being accepted as refugees, they bring the whole family. There have been many violent attacks commited by syrians since. Many people in Germany have been sympathetic with the refugees at first because of the war in Syria, but now the have to realize, that muslim immigrants mostly refuse to respect western values and laws. Many are here just for the social benefits. Of course this is not tru for all immigrants, but unfurtunatly for many of them. The government does not take measures against this problem and as a result right wing parties gain ground. It is quite a scary situation. No one knows where this will end.

I am an immigrant (not in france). It should be common sense to obey the cultural norms and make an attempt to assimilate when in a new country. Although I’m still learning, I do my best to follow the rules of my host country. After all, I owe my entire livelihood to the generosity of the country that let me stay. I still often practice things from my own culture at home, and when people are curious I tell them about it, but I don’t expect others to bend to my foreign culture.

I'm an immigrant myself (Romanian in the Netherlands), and I think that going to another country implies a responsibility of trying to adapt to the culture of the place, (and trying to make it a better place even), instead of keeping the same mentality as you had home. That's why I think the best solution for immigration would be a good old sorting of people who come into the country. Are you there professionally (for work, for studies)? Ok. This issue is big in all of Europe. I live in Sweden and we have had a huge increase in shootings surrounding gang crimes. It all started in 2019 when we let in a big wave of immigrants. Even though it has been a couple of years since, I still can't get used to them being everywhere I go. I don't think every immigrant is bad, but a lot of the ones I've seen in school are just loud, disrespectful and ungreatful. I honestly think that our cultures are just way too different. People from all backgrounds just can't live in a harmony like the goverment is trying to tell us. We have different countries for a reason, because people are different and everyone can't get along. It's that simple. I hope the French will see a brighter day soon.

Also, France fails to extradite its illegal immigrants. It is not the only issue, though, because many troublemakers are French from foreign origin, mainly North Africa. They don't feel like French and despise the country that has poured money in social welfare and in infrastructures for years in the suburbs where they live. It's not just all the previous governments that have failed to integrate these people: they don't want to integrate themselves and they hate the very hand that had been feeding them. It is worth noting that the countries from which they originate don't have the same troubles with their youngsters: it's because they are tough and don't hesitate to severely punish crimes to have a more peaceful society. Don't be fooled by the events of the teen who has tragically lost his life : he was well known by the Police. He was not an angel and it's easy now to paint him as a victim (he could have killed people trying to escape the Police). There are more and more thugs on the streets that are driving stolen vehicles (many without licence), try to flee the Police recklessly, are involved in drug trafficking and other crimes. The Police are scared, the citizens are scared and the government is a total coward (like their predecessors). It's appalling. Very possibly, we will have a strong right wing government next time. Or we will make a Revolution. Once in a while, we snap. I am not so sure about Chinese and other cultures. For example, in most cities where Chinese are the majority, it looks like China, with everything in Chinese and a lot of them don't even bother to include English translation. It's been brewing for decades. My sister did a teacher-exchange 20 years ago, and none of her high-school aged students were French, spoke French, or cared for French customs. It was total chaos, and her exchange was terminated when students made credible threats to her life and followed her home.
