‘Naïve’ to think Russia will lose war, says Dr Jordan Peterson

Notions that the Russians are going to lose the war in Ukraine are “naïve,” says clinical psychologist Dr Jordan Peterson.
“Or that we’re going to win,” he said.
“I don’t understand that. What do you mean we’re going to win? What are we going to win here exactly?

People in west aren't reproducing less because they are being told that we should prevent climate change but they are doing it because this is the logical conclusion of scientific worldview and individualism. The love and yearning for having children is unscientific and irrational, so deciding to have less children is the logical outcome of modernity. People just calculate pros and cons for having a baby, which should not be even a question to begin with. But with modernity, having a baby is a matter of calculation. People calculate whether they want to sacrifice their time, money, years etc for having a baby, and most people don't want to do that sacrifice. There's nothing "common sense" about this interview. If Peterson had any common sense, he would have come prepared with some basic knowledge about the dynamics of this conflict. It's common sense to know at least a little bit about the topic at hand, especially if you're going to go on TV to talk about it. Instead, he tries to be clever with wordplay about "winning" the conflict, in a way that's not really clever. Everyone knows that there aren't actually "winners" in a war, and pointing out the way that people colloquially speak about Ukraine "winning" by ending Russian occupation isn't edgy nor does it redefine anyone's perspective. I will admit I was impressed by the number of logical fallacies and backasswards mental flips he was able to complete inorder to fit the Ukraine conflict into his global warming agenda. The idea that Putin can just "cut off the gas" to force a victory in Ukraine is so completely wrong, that to say so you either have to be regurgitating straight up Mother Russia propaganda or completely unprepared and misinformed. Not sure which of those JP is, but draw your own conclusions. The EU has enough oil and natural gas to provide heat and electricity to all residential areas through winter of 2024, and that doesn't even factor in the additional offset of several nuclear powerplants that France recently reactivated. At this point, the only thing that withholding gas can accomplish is restricting European manufacturing and energy intensive industries. Putin essenttially has the option of temporarily hurting the European economy, but only at the expense of permanently decimating the remainder of Russia's economy, which relies on energy exports for 50%-65% of GDP. The trade off is so lopsided that I can't imagine there's anyway Putin is dumb enough to ever do it. But if he does, then Russia will be defeated that much sooner. Perhaps Peterson does better in the realm of psychology, but this take on geopolitics was pretty dismal.

Its successes on the Donetsk front are much more significant than Ukraine's victory in the Kharkiv region Many do not understand, but the Donetsky Front is one continuous fortified area. Of all the criticism I've seen directed towards Peterson, that's a first. *(EDIT - added) Mediocre means ordinary or average. So your claim is that Jordan Peterson's intelligence level is common. Is there any evidence to support that? On the contrary there's evidence to support he is substantially more intelligent than the average person. The fact he's taught at Harvard and other major universities successfully, completed a PhD, authored several successful books (both in sales and effect on readers), treated and helped thousands of patients in clinical practice, conversed and debated with many world renowned intellectuals, most respecting him as a peer... Those aren't the achievements of someone with ordinary intelligence, whether practically or by literal definition.
