i got bagged for saying i dont care what date it is , and i think im right , lol because ive seen so many different opinions on what date it should be . im an english born australian . 55yrs here . and ive heard to reasons for the 26th . one was . it was the date they raised the australian flag . the other is political . and theyre both fine by me / but . if were celebrating the date cook came here ? which the aboriginals call invasion day . i can understand their issue . it was the day they had to fight against a country that wanted to make it a british commonwealth colony . but they lost . its not unique . its just later in history . others have taken over countries and lands since we had travel . as i said . im english born . we got taken over by the romans . long time ago .... they built infostructures , things to keep them going . sewers , roads . and buildings . that are still there today . england didnt bow down to them , they fought back , and ended up reclaiming england . thats how we conquered the Aboriginals , not through wiping them out . which was an option . but for giving them a better way of living . YEAH YEAH , i know alot died of diseases and food changes , im not an anti aboriginal pom . we never were . you cant invade a country , that has no identity . you cant ruin one culture , when that one culture has 100's of cultures with 100's of different languages , multi culture , has proven that here in australia . the british , and everyone else that was here in the beginning . wanted one flag , one ppl , yes we had restrictions on who came here , until the 80's . to protect the ppl . and the australian way of life , question ? who doesnt want to protect their country , and way of life ? , so why is australia being called racist . for doing what every other country does ? wont mention any names , but can you imagine , what would happen to you . if you tried to live your way , in some other countries ? no . australia is one of the best countries on this planet . and the ppl are the best youll find anywhere , we need to protect that image , even if it means , going back to banning certain ppl . they know , and australia knows , who they are . political correctness crap , just stops us naming them .

Full information is needed. 1949 established Australian citizenship laws making all people born in Australia citzens, prior to this we were British subjects. 1935 Australia day was celebrated on Jan 26th in all states except NSW! The issue is Jan 26th, it would be akin to us praising Germany if they celebrated Sept 1st, the start of WWIi.
