@@emmo_93 I have been there. And everything I heard from fellow expats, plus from quite a few goodhearted Chinese people, confirms that the Chinese individuals, who have real authority there, are sharks. Quite true. I also heard that bribery is a way of life there. People do whatever they can to survive. The things I heard. It all spoke volumes 😢.

I have been scammed by the local government in China. I had this contract with Chinese state own company to built for my project. The company ran out of funds. We helped the financial difficulties under extra promise from them to stay on their schedule. At the end, the company sued me for not having funds and I was in breach of my contact according to their court. That was 10 years ago. We appealed through the supreme court. Again we appealed through their supreme procurate submitting evidence of recordings, court abuse and physical abuse and forged fake evidence made by the court officials. But alas, they only sent us text messages to tell us to wait, while they took away my assets. Also got threat call phone from china agent in Melbourne. Contacted our ministry of interior, only to comeback that Australia government cannot help Australian under threat by Chinese living in Australia threatening an Australian citizen.

I’m an Australian who spent 1 year in a Chinese prison because they thought I worked in the intelligence field (which I did not) a very nasty experience. There is too much corruption in China and there are no rights at all if you get detained. Get ready for severe malnutrition, 24/7 in one tiny room with 50 people, lights on 24/7, leg irons and torture that doesn’t leave marks for when you’re embassy visits. I also notified many peoples families (mostly Chinese) of their loved one’s whereabouts as some had never left that room for 7 years awaiting trial. Nobody knew where they went, they just disappeared one day & no further contact. A very dangerous place.

because he lived in China so he knew chinese people are very peacefull so he got violent, i have seen it many times with foreigners. The thing is there are many cameras in China and at the moment someone called the police they inmediately saw the cameras and in China violent behaviour is not tolerated, that is what some foreigners dont understand. In australia you can start a fight and if you get cought is not big deal, in China you go to jail unless you pay the victim money, sometimes a big amount of money depending how much he hurted the other person, and if he didnt have money to compensate the victim, then that means long time in jail.

If its a peace officer, you can sue for restitution. I've recently had to test this and can say the US system does work for us when you're willing to put in the work, patience and aren't being too greedy. Our police are also acutely aware most of the time when things look like malicious prosecution as they can lose their jobs over it. I'll hope for easier times for you, sir. Australian need be aware of difference among countries regarding crime definition and law enforcement. For example , in Middle East countries if western women go to night bar, drink and are sexually assaulted, it could be western women’s fault. In south eastern countries, if you smoke and sell drug in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia etc, you can be given death penalty. In China, theft or robbery is crime unlike US. It can be considered crime if you have dispute with a shop and forcefully take their assets. China law enforcement can be harsh on criminals from western countries ‘s standard. One example is an American man who work as an English teacher in China and went into relationship with a 21 year old female student there. After some time, the female student want to break up with him. The US man then stab her neck and body multiple times and cause her death. He was then given death penalty instead of 5-20 years prison by US standard.

@harrysmith8515 11 күн бұрын
@@overratedgm5713That is exact example I want to point out. Crime definition and law enforcement can be different among countries. The Australian guy made a mistake in China to use force to settle dispute with shop instead of using consumer affair authority and civil lawsuit. The US guy who stabbed his former girlfriend to death thought his penalty shall be some years in prison instead of death penalty according to US law. But in China society , people think justice is served by giving death penalty to the US man. Another example is one punch death: in Australia a person who cause one punch death to another person can walk free or get a few years prison at maximum. But in China that person can get death penalty as well as he cause other people’s death.

Did matthew get the price to fix phone on a written receipt. I wouldnt trust an oral deal. I would never expect another country to have the same laws as my home country. Especially when the country is other than democracy. Apple was probably more expensive to fix his phone. Im not sure if Matthew was visiting or living in China.

If you have a successful business why go to a third party to get your phone fixed? Something not getting told. I've been in Asia 25 years and one thing I've learned over all these years is that the full story never gets told. Btw, what country in the world gives it's prisoners "rights". US prison system is still slavery. This guy has a lot more to admit

I have a Jo I like to practice with. I like to practice Tai Chi. My focus is on strengthening the Chi flow and meditating. It is the basic for Traditional Chinese Medicine. Releasing blockages and relieving excesses and deficiencies in people is the basic of that. I started practicing Silat and Escrima in 1993 and switched to Tai Chi in 2008. I practiced Karate for a few years as a tiny kid! Peace. Mike.

Why would you try to smuggle out diaries after being detained for 5 years like this? This whole story seems fishy to me. Nobody gets 5 years in China for stealing a phone, let alone their own phone. The bill would have been no more than $100, probably far less. You don’t go to jail 5 years for that, not even in China, and you wouldn’t be threatened with 12 years jail. I suspect he’s not telling us something. China’s legal system is actually pretty robust - though there are exceptions, especially in political cases.

@ I doubt he made it up. I know foreigners who ended up in Chinese prisons, and some of it right true. I suspect he assaulted the shop manager(s) and/or police during the dispute. That’s what gets people longer jail sentences. Or there was some other charge involved. But that still doesn’t explain why he’d try to smuggle out diaries written on masks. If he’d been caught he could have spent way more time in the slammer.

@@powerandpresence5290 If it’s easy to establish, can you please do so and give me the details. I would definitely make a video about that. But basically, the story just doesn’t add up. Guy goes to jail for 4 years for trying to steal his own phone. I guarantee that didn’t happen. At least not in China. I live in China. I once stole a persons phone by accident. The police did get involved, but we all took pictures together at the end of the ordeal because it was just nonsense. How is this guys story so different?? I’ts just Sky News spreading hatred.
