Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan has responded to the "hypocrisy" of Animal Rebellion protesters who eat "almonds and avocados" by eating a Big Mac.
Animal Rebellion protest groups sprayed the gates of Big Ben with "paint symbolising milk" yesterday.
"I meet so many vegans who devour avocados and almonds, and don't seem to realise it involves the slaughter of billions of bees," Mr Morgan said.
"My response to you destroying all these things is to have a Big Mac - because, you know what, it's a free country, it's a democracy and I'm allowed to eat meat.
"I'm certainly allowed to eat meat when someone who kills bees to feed their avocado habit minds."

He was attacking the hypocrisy of environmental extremists who want to ban meat from our diet, on the grounds of 'saving nature', while pretending that crop farming has no negative impacts on nature. It is one of the worst forms of virtue signalling. The industrial 'efficiency' of modern farming has devastating effects on nature (we used to use scarecrows to frighten the birds away, but now we poison them). But with such a huge population to feed and people expecting access to a wide variety of produce, the alternative would be mass starvation. So the real problem is overpopulation and the solution is for people to severely curtail their reproduction rates. But show me the politician who is willing to broach that subject. In that respect we need more blunt speakers like Piers Morgan (although he does sometimes go overboard)..

While I agree with Piers that the vandalism protests are obnoxious, illegal, and unhelpful, he also was at his tops during this interview with interrupting and drilling upon a small and somewhat off topic point. Why even have that woman on the show? Briefly near the start of the interview, she essentially admits that the activist groups are escalating protests to the point of criminal vandalism to achieve media attention, but Piers needs to slow it down sometimes because this is a wild point to make that calls for more airtime than bees. We get the point about the damned bees, but why not argue how all sorts of paint or the thousands of gallons of water and chemicals needed to clean it is equally unhelpful to their cause? Why not ask where the escalated protests end? Essentially, her reasoning for escalated protests dictates when folks feel strongly enough about a cause, then endlessly excessive retortion is justified to achieve its goals. Well, if that's not the definition of sanctimonious, I don't know what is. But more importantly, such an approach sets the most dangerous precedent possible, i.e. my way of thinking is so morally and properly superior for the greater good of everyone that if you don't come around to it, our people will only be forced to become excessively dangerous at any cost necessary. For the record: Their idea that animal agriculture is a leading cause of climate change is based on a faulty study from like 2007 where they compared Animal Ag to Transport, they took the lifecycle emissions of Animal ag but only measured the tailpipe of transport, and even one of the authors came out and admitted the flaw in their study. No, cows existing in the ecosystem where there is a carbon cycle is not causing climate change. About 4% of emissions are from animal ag. Humans digging hydrocarbons out of the ground and burning it is causing climate change. Methane in the atmosphere has a half-life of 9 years before it is destroyed, and about as much methane is destroyed each year as cows produce. Also, we feed these animals ugly fruits we don't want to eat or parts of plants to ruminants that are inedible like stems and leaves. Only 10% of the food these animals consume are edible to humans. They turn those in to quality nutrients we can use, it's about efficiency. If we gut out animal ag we will just have a lot of plant waste. Plant waste already makes up the bulk of food waste. We don't give cows the soybeans or rice themselves, we eat those. So this idea that we would use less land is fallacious. Veganism is about theology and ethics, they only latched onto health and climate because they know no one will buy their ethics arguments.

Electric cars cause far more harm than people realise with lithium minning, so much more CO2 emissions caused by producing 1 Electric car than 1 diesel car. No investment in hydrogen power is dumb and massive data farms cause way more damage to the planet than local farming of animals.
