About 15yrs ago, when they were building the big gas refineries up in Gladstone, people warned about a coming gas shortage for the local market because the lobbyists for the gas industry wanted the majority of the gas to be sold to overseas markets because they could get a much higher price. The Australian Labor party wants to ban gas here (look at Victoria) but still let the privately owned gas companies still sell it overseas? The same applies to our coal industry. The Labor Government wants to shut down our coal fired power stations in favour of a disfunctional "renewable energy solution" but still sell our coal overseas to fuel literally thousands of coal powered power stations elsewhere. Our "fossil fuel emissions" here in Australia are totally insignificant compared to many countries around the world. Also, how many of you people out there run your household budgets the way the Australian Labor Party runs our country`s budget? If you do, you will not have a roof over your head for much longer.

Agree. From my experience it is selective. Furthermore, Springborg had no interest in corporate fraud before his last term, which seems to be a shared phenomena. Very limited among politicians unfortunately. The people running the country are too restricted in their experiences and too far removed from the majority of the nation's day to day woes. If they're that concerned for Australians, put a stop to the wake of cost of living pressures. It's not that difficult when there's an emergency. Which this is, but the problem is they don't see it as that unless they're physically affected. It's shameful.

@DianneMead
@DianneMead 14 күн бұрын
@@alwaysright3718 I disagree. It's caused by politicians not the public. Who people vote for is neither here nor there at the end of the day. Politicians make the promises. They fail to deliver, they choose to implement personal agendas and values, not what's best for the country or its people. You can vote and be bitterly disappointed by the party and people you vote for. Furthermore, people are wrangled into 'party policy' and restricted by antiquated government procedures they know little of until in office. In sofar as buy and demand, different story. However even that is curtailed by a whimsical government. We only need to look at immigration and foreign ownership to see the fallout of that disaster, still unfolding.

Regarding electricity prices and solar. The public feels duped. Furthermore, instead of penalising residential customers for exporting excess to the grid, electricity providers should be capturing and storing in batteries the exports for peak, night time and emergency use. Government grants need to be made available to Queenslanders for battery purchase. Where's the innovation and forward thinking? Nuclear - I agree with the protesters. Everyone seems to be disregarding the casualties of working and living near nuclear power plants. Cancer, mutations, leukaemia and sobit goes. I am astounded at the disregard for the information imparted during the Senate inquiry into nuclear power pre Christmas. Details among the transcripts expose the dire health risks and issues, let alone the creation of indestructible waste, monetary cost, time frame ie not up tol 2030 minimum. Australia has the opportunity to make a historical and wise move not to follow the rest of the world who are basically making toxic dumps. Preserve our country. Utilise the benefits we have over other countries ie solar, to its best advantage.
@johngeier8692
@johngeier8692 13 күн бұрын
Nuclear power plants are safer than rooftop solar. Large batteries are prohibitively expensive and lithium reserves are limited. A modest amount of warming is actually beneficial. The world shouldn’t spend many trillions of dollars trying to prevent this. China and several other countries are continuing to build coal fired power plants. Our current energy policy is futile and extremely wasteful.
