‘Opened the floodgates’: Albanese government has ‘lost control’ of Australia’s borders

Nationals Senator Matt Canavan has slammed the Albanese government for having “lost control” of Australia’s borders and “opening the floodgates” after Covid.
Labor’s primary vote has slumped to its lowest level since the 2022 election, according to the latest Newspoll.
Support for Labor has fallen by one per cent to 31 per cent, while the Coalition’s primary vote remains steady at 38 per cent.
“There simply isn’t enough homes in Australia,” Mr Canavan told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“The reason there isn’t enough homes is that this government has lost control of our borders.
“They came into office with the job of opening up after Covid. They just opened the floodgates.”

My rent 3 years ago was $ 425 per week , 3 bed townhouse. As aged pensioners ( wife ) life was manageable. Today same place rent is $ 650 per week. This is 63% of our pension. When rent rises. The income of the owner of the property rises. So does that mean that the owner pays more tax? When petrol costs rise does more money go to tax. When everything rises there is more money going to tax. Where does all this tax money go? How much tax money has been acquired in tax since when? ?
